The camp was not nearly as big as a camping site. It was actually quite small, and I wanted to know where all of the people slept.

There were only around 12 tents, and about triple that in people. When Miles spotted my confusion, he nodded.

"Not everybody actually lives here. There are campsites stationed all over our forest. This is the main one, however," He explained, his eyes flickering like the flames from the fire.

Jade was still holding her shoulder, and Miles noticed that, as well.

"My pack did not mean to harm you, human. We had smelt vampire for days and when you were seen creeping around our forest, we expected it to be you." He informed, sincerely. "You may have noticed that it is against our law to harm a human. Vampires, however, are quite the opposite."

His face had darkened as he glanced at me, but before he could say anything, a pale girl walked over to him, smiling.

"Father, the smell of human blood is upsetting the Elders," She murmured, taking a quick glance at a few grey-haired individuals. "They want the vampire killed as well."

She paused, before adding in an excited tone, "Would you like me to heal the human?"

Her father, Miles, nodded. The pale girl led Jade off further through the forest and I began to follow as the girl waved me over.

"No, the vampire stays." Miles ordered. "I cannot bare to lose my only daughter."

The pale girl stopped in her steps.

"Dad," She started. "I'm sixteen. I learnt how to kill vampires when I was four. I can even beat Enzion in a fight. And, I'm born into witchcraft. The only thing you'll have to worry about is where to put the vampires' heart."

The girl's speech was the most assuring thing I had ever heard. But still, Miles was considering.

"You've only fought two real vampires, Phoenix,' He reminded her.

"But I won, didn't I?" She smiled cheerfully.

Miles considered this.

"That, you did do," Miles pondered for a second. "You may bring the vampire, as long as you take Enzion. They're unpredictable creatures of the dark."

Phoenix sighed, audibly. "I knew there would be a catch. Oh well. Follow me, unpredictable creature of the night, and friend!"

Jade and I exchanged looks quickly, before glancing back at Phoenix. She had the same white hair and blue eyes as her father did. Her pale skin had a patch of pink on her cheeks, and her lips looked soft and red. Her hair was braided down her shoulder, like snow cascading softly.

"What are you waiting for?" Phoenix giggled. "It's about time you met my brother, Enzion!"
