Once I was updated on everything that had occurred whilst I was asleep, I immediately wished that I wasn't mortal. It was hardly fair that were-wolves, vampires, and witches were allowed to be gifted with extra powers that made humans seem like dirt. Nothing extraordinary, special or powerful was ever given to mortals, or to me at all.
Phoenix had pulled a bag out of her luggage case and inside of it was a giant stash of money. She reached in, counting the notes evenly.
"There," Phoenix smiled, giving each of us a few notes. "Forty dollars each. That should be enough for new clothes, food and whatever else you want or need. I'm not great with human money, so I wouldn't know, but I am trying."
We all took it gratefully. Young children were beginning to hang around the park and playground now, but nobody paid any attention to the beastly griffin that sat next to Enzion.
"Why don't they notice Arius?" I asked, confusion seeping in my blood, a baffled look crossing my face. To my surprise, it was Partius who answered.
"Would you have noticed if you didn't know what sort of creatures hid around the corners late at night? Or if somebody didn't point it out? I doubt it," He shrugged, explaining it to the best of his abilities.
I had been informed on the vote, and I had formed a theory that Enzion and Partius would both try to win everybody over. I had not spoken my thoughts to anybody, but I knew that Partius was going to try the hardest. This made me think that perhaps he would make a better Alpha than Enzion, as he was more ambitious and determined.
But my vote was not set in stone, and I was open to voting for Enzion if he seemed fit for the job.
We walked aimlessly through roads and streets, looking for a sign of a shopping center, but the closest we got was a shopping trolley. We had to ask somebody who gave us simple directions that still seemed complicated. Once the shopping center was found, Arius was left to fly outside, a free spirit no longer trapped by its master.
When we finally set foot into the crowded shops, people pushed past us, like a swarm of bees or an unexpected storm. Phoenix shivered lightly, her arms placed around herself, warily.
"Are you okay?" I asked, peering into her wandering eyes.
"I just... I just don't like crowded places. It messes with my senses, so I can't tell who is who and what is what. It leaves me blinded." Phoenix explained as we walked towards a less crowded area, a deserted shop.
"This is where we split up," Enzion announced. " I'll go with Phoenix and you guys can all go together."
"I'd rather go alone," Partius interrupted. "If you don't mind."
Enzion seemed confused by his brother, but still allowed it. "Okay, just remember what you need to buy. I don't think I can handle another second wearing this blood-stained shirt. People are staring at me like I have a third eye or something."
"Says the guy with a werewolf brother, a witch sister and a pet griffin," I mumbled. "Seems legitimate."
