Chapter Twelve
I feel myself blow some air out once I came out from that office. Actually, 'di naman siya nakakatakot. She just ask me about my current situation and about my studies. Dala lang talaga 'to ng tense at kaba ko bago pumasok.
Didiretso na sana ako sa gate nang may tumayo mula sa bench pagdating ko sa lobby. My eyes widen a bit when I saw that it was JC. "Nandito ka pa?"
"Kumusta?" he asked instead, ignoring my question.
Na-realize kong mukha kaming tanga na nakatayo sa gitna ng lobby kaya umupo ako sa bench na inupuan niya. "Okay naman. She hired me after asking a couple of questions. Nabanggit mo pala na galing akong Central Library?"
"Yup." He sat beside me as well. "Actually, hired ka na talaga bago ka pa pumunta dito. Knowing that you work from Central was enough for them."
Hindi ko mapigilang hindi siya hampasin sa braso—pero syempre mahina lang. "E ba't 'di mo sinabi? Sobrang kinabahan pa 'ko kanina."
He chuckled. "I don't wanna spoil your moment."
Akala ko naman magaglit siya or something sa feeling close kong hampas. Though I'm positive that he has toned arms. May naramdaman akong curve, e.
Since nandito na rin naman siya, I explained what happened inside.
Morning shift ang binigay sa'kin kasi may pasok ako sa hapon. I could also start working here tomorrow. Gate pass muna ang binigay nila kasi ipo-process pa lang daw ang papers ko.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you talaga, JC. Kung 'di dahil sa'yo hanggang ngayon namomroblema pa ri—"
"JC?" kunot noo niyang tanong.
Shet. Did I said that out loud?
"W-What JC? I said J-Josh," I denied, keeping a straight face to prove it.
I gulped when his head started tipping to the sides like he's trying to find answers on my face. "You know, you're a bad liar."
"Okay, you got me," I admitted, heaving a sigh. Wala namang point kung ide-deny ko pa. "Josh or Joshua is too mouthful for me so I took your initials instead, sorry."
Tumayo na ako at hindi na siya hinintay pang sumagot. I knew my face was red from embarrassment. "Hinintay mo pa ba ako makalabas ng office?"
"Yes," maiksing sagot niya na para bang hindi big deal 'yon.
