Chapter Forty-one
A sigh escaped from my mouth as I watch the people around the lib. I don't really like this place pero in fairness, mami-miss ko dito.
Ang ironic lang na makaramdam ng ganito sa Kirk kung saan sikat ang discrimination at kung ano ano pang kinaiinisan ko.
My first day here was a disaster. I even had quite of bad experiences after that. But as time pass by, I've learnt to adapt their culture without losing myself. Feeling ko nag-grow ako kahit papaano. Natuto akong lumaban as much as I can despite their intimidating demeanor.
"Miss, sa'n ko makikita 'yong Philosophy Section?"
Agad akong napangiti nang makita kung sino 'yon. "Nikki!"
She shushed me, giggling at my reaction.
Shet. Nasa library nga pala kami ngayon at siya pa talaga ang sumaway sa akin.
"Sorry if I haven't come here more often. Naging busy lang masyado sa life," bungad niya. "So, kumusta?"
I smiled. "Okay naman...kaya lang last day ko na ngayon."
I'm really glad that she's here. Akala ko kasi hindi ko na siya makikita pa ulit bago ako umalis.
"Huh, bakit?" Curious siyang lumapit at nag-lean sa counter.
"Kailangan kasi, e," sabi ko na lang. "Ikaw ba?"
"Me? I'm fine. So fine." Tumango tango ako. I don't know if it's just me or parang pati siya kino-convince niya sa sagot niya. "I won't let stress take over me."
I was about to ask more when she took sight of her watch and frowned. "Sayang, I can't stay long. May klase pa ako."
"Ah gano'n ba," malungkot kong sambit. "'Yong Philosophy Section pala nando'n sa left cor—"
She vaguely waved her hands at me, giggling again. "Hey, I was kidding. I just dropped by para mangamusta." Inis niyang hinawi ang buhok na lumipad papunta sa buhok niya. "Let's hang sometimes. Lagi ako do'n sa No Scrubs, you know that?"
"Yup."
"Besides, you'll have to tell me about you and Josh's story." She knowingly winked at me before making her way out.
My mouth fell open. How does she know? Alam ba ng buong campus 'yon?
But I shouldn't worry anymore tutal aalis naman na'ko dito. Bahala sila diyan. Syaka okay lang naman sa'kin na ikwento kay Nikki kasi magaan ang loob ko sa kanya but is there still a story to tell?
