You have woken up due to something making a very loud noise. (Thanks, perception!)
You remember what happened yesterday. (what you assume was yesterday.)
You clearly knew something was wrong, so you looked around the pod for an escape hatch. Bet you didn't know ours had these, did ya, movie protagonists? Anyway, you step out of the pod, feeling completely fine. "Doc! It worked!... Doc?" You look forward and see two skeletons leaning on the wall, one of them has a revolver in his hand. There was a note. It reads:
y/n l/n. If you are reading this, then you have woken up. It has been a week since we've been trapped in here due to the rapidly rising sea levels, and me and Tommy know we won't survive. Bennet's gone a little mad in his corner, mumbling things to himself. We are doing this for you, y/n. we are saving you food and water that we would have used up, but we know you'll last a lot longer than us when you awake. For all we know, you could be the last of humanity. y'n, we trust in you to pass on the knowledge of humanity into whatever world you now face. I think it's our time now. See you in a better place.
- Tommy - Coomer
You shed a light tear and salute. 2 people have died to keep me alive...
but why am I here? I definitely have some purpose of being alive right now...
Could I really be the last human kind has? I won't let my kind down.
You ponder at this as you stand over them.
Wake the f*ck up samurai, we've got a city to burn. You think in your head as you snap back to reality. The sad, sad reality that faces you now.
You look under the desk, while searching the room for supplies before you leave. How will I leave? Instead, you find the skeleton of what you assume is Bennet. The phrase "This is my hiding spot. I'm staying here until the situation has drastically improved." Has been scratched over the walls near the desk many times. There is no trace of blood, you must have been sleeping for over a year. This thought was to comfort you from the eeriness of the area.
You had found a swimsuit almost identical to the one Snake wears in Metal gear solid during the prologue, which was pretty cool to be honest, and a vent that looked flooded. the large vent was located on the floor, so no water came in. It's a miracle that this place hasn't collapsed already, because of the water pressure and the amount of rust on... everything. That's why you couldn't use the revolver. Either way, you still took that for safe keeping.
After eating a healthy breakfast of MRE's and water, for you now not so healthy brain, after the events that just occured, you try to pack as many things into the suit as possible. You manage to grab some archives of important data from the computer, surprisingly not a very big folder for containing that and the additional papers to teach an entire high school physics class. What? You gotta save what you can if there is any intelligent life out there...
After jamming yourself through the large floor vent and going through a claustrophobic trip to the surface, you find it foggy and full of nothing. Thank god if it wasn't for that conveniently placed reference, I would have died down there.
Just then, something approached in a boat, and the boat made the same sound that you heard when you woke up. The boat was a fairly normal boat, nothing too sci - fi and nothing too destitute, either. Knowing that they could be friend or foe, whatever they are (only seeing a faint humanoid form through the fog) You decide to sneak up onto the boat instead.
It seems as if it isn't the apocalypse, thankfully, but it still could be. these could be savages that stole this boat! Although analyzing as you stepped into the interior docks from below, it seems in good shape. You question the tanks of pink paint, though. Nothing here seems like it needs or is ready to be painted, and it doesn't look like cargo either because there would generally be more cargo, and that sort of stuff would normally be in bulk and in an actual cargo storage part of the ship.
Enough analyzing, time to explore.
This song plays in your head as you head to the door, making sure your footsteps aren't heard by moving slowly:
(If you can't tell, I'm a metal gear fan. Don't worry, this won't consume the entire story. It is about splatoon after all.)
You overhear 2 people speaking... English? Nice to know that language survived how many years. I was in there. At least I can communicate with them. Good, Goo-
Your thoughts are cut off by actually hearing coherent words instead of jumbled english coming from the roof.
It was an old man's voice, tinted slightly with that stereotypical old man accent:
"The life readings indicate they are moving with the ship, so they must be on it. Try to find them, you two!"
Then there was what seemed to be a girl, sounded about my age. She whined:
"Why couldn't we just install security cameras?"
The old man said again:
"You know I can't be bothered with those new fangled devices you kids know so much about..."
And then footsteps.
So, they can talk, and in english too, and they have security cameras as an almost new technology? Is this some messed up version of the eighties? I loved the eighties.
his mind trailed off, thinking of the amazing music they had back then. He's 14! He didn't shouldn't have even cared about that stuff. All the other kids his age were generally mischievous and hated the generations before them, and worst of all were mostly normies. Except for his few friends... where are you now...
just then, catching y/n off guard, were footsteps getting louder towards the doors. Because of playing all of your stealth video games, (and even trying to enact what they do in real life alone in your room, because introvert) you quickly roll forward to the side of the door that held its hinges, (so when it opened you were covered behind it) before it opened.
You were ducked, preventing the circular glass on the top half of the door to expose your identity, as the thing walked into the room, completely oblivious to your presence. Your eyes followed their footsteps onto the dock until their figure came into view. Their calm, non - aggresive, smallish and kind of cute figure. y/n was intrigued about the biology of this creature! It must have come from humans, because it clearly had skin, although it was a little short and its arms looked like they had no muscle at all. The most notable was the hair, though. It was grey and had green accents, and it seemed off... You couldn't ponder any longer, you had to be out of there! you quickly and quietly exited the room and found another room to hide in to think.
First things first, the way the feminine figure walked into the room was non threatening, so they probably don't want to hurt me... but others might. Especially that one guy who they were talking to. But how long do they plan to stay here and search for me? It could be all day, no food, no water, just me left to lose my sanity... I guess i'll have to turn myself in one way or the other. The least I could do was gather as much information as I can, before something happens to me. Maybe they were calm because they knew whatever they were trying to find couldn't stand a chance?
Then, a calm voice that you haven't heard before says: "Come look at this! I found some tracks of water on the ground here."
oh shiiiiiit

Thanks for reading this story sorry if this chapter wasn't s p i c y enough, there isn't really much to happen between characters when there is only one. This is getting pretty long so I'm going to publish this and then immediately start working on the next chapter.
