Authors note: I know the first 4 chapters have literally been, mostly, context. I don't know if I'm much of a writer, but hopefully I can make this interesting. For the like, 5 people that will actually read this.

After what seemed like forever, the door in front of y/n (Not the glass one, one to the right of the receptionist desk) opened to reveal a woman with some files in her hands, she had dark blue tentacle hair, and had circular glasses over her green eyes.
??? "Hi. I'm Jessica. So what did you need?"
y/n: "I need to give you some items I have with me"
Jessica: "I'll just take them here-"
y/n thought for a moment. He would be exposing himself if he tried to give her the items, but...
Jessica: "..."
y/n: "It's confidential..."
Jessica gave y/n a squinted glare before signaling for him to follow her into the hall she came from. Finally, now he could reveal himself. y/n took off the hood.
y/n: "Look at me for a moment."
Jessica turned around, with slight annoyance on her face, but it then turned to surprise as she saw his hair.
Jessica: "I understand why you were acting weird back there... How did you survive that long? Are you with anybody else?"
Her expression turned into pure fascination as she looked at him from all sides. To an outsider, this would look pretty creepy, but y/n knew what he had to do. After all, being a test subject for various things in the past made him understand the measurements needed, and the angles needed, to achieve practical data.
y/n: "You didn't notice the height difference?"
Jessica: "I did, I just thought it was part of the costume..."
y/n: "This is a working swimsuit! Built by my good friend. Hey, you wanna talk about this somewhere more comfortable?"
Jessica nodded in agreement as she led them both to a lounge room they took a seat on chairs opposite to them, surprisingly comfortable for being made for another species.
y/n: "To start things off, what is your species again?"
Jessica: "Inklings. We descended from squids, as you know them."
And so Jessica told y/n about inklings, octolings, their history, and the events of Splatoon 1, and y/n told her about how he got to where he is now.

Jessica: "Do you want to see if you can make some of these relics we have work?"
y/n: "Sure."
Instead of walking down into the museum part, he was walked to another room with various technologies from the 1980's and 90's.
y/n: "This is amazing! How did you manage to get these items in such pristine condition?" as he fiddled with a sony walkman and earbuds.
Jessica: "It seems lots of your kind thought the end of the world would come in some way or the other, so we just took it from bunkers and the like."
y/n: "I remember lots of people thought the end of the world would happen when the new millenium happened. Must be from there."
He took a look at the cassette tape. It was labelled "My favorites". Whoever had this probably hadn't expected to have it used by anyone else, but he took a listen. It was the Beatles, singing "Here comes the sun." y/n started to tear up. He didn't know why, at first, but remembered that in elementary school, he was in a music class that had practiced that song on recorders, to play to the principal, because it was her favorite song. Looking back on it now, he shed some tears and wanted to protect that. He wanted it to be an experience everyone had, seeing the hapiness on everyone's faces. It showed how close the school was as a whole. A family. And now, it's gone, and will never happen again. Things like that were rare, even back then.
y/n stopped the tape and put it back on the table, and just sat in the corner. Jessica didn't know what to think of this, but sat next to him to comfort him.
Jessica: "What happened? What did you hear?"
y/n: "It just gave me some happy memories, that will never happen again. It's not the song itself.
Jessica: "Would it be too much to ask you to try to get some of the other things working?"
y/n: "No... It would help me get my mind off of it."
y/n got up, then looked at a table opposite to the one that had the walkman, full of less delicate items. One of the items, was a Colt 1911A1.
Now that's what you call a mood swing.
Like Jessica when she first realized y/n was human, he inspected and fiddled with the gun and its corresponding magazines joyfully, with Jessica breathing a sigh of relief.
I knew this gun was resilient, but 12,000 years? This is amazing!
y/n: "Do you have anywhere I can use this? A shooting range, perhaps?"
Jessica: "No... wait, that's a gun?"
y/n: "If you couldn't assume so, yes."
Jessica: "That's a weird looking splattershot..."
y/n: "What's a splattershot?"
They had talked about everything except turf wars.
Jessica: "Ok, so our weapons shoot ink. we die from ink, colored ink that is not ours specifically our color."
y/n: "Man dies from metal, so it only is natural that we make weapons that shoot metal to kill each other, just like your species making weapons that shoot ink?"
Jessica: "...That makes a lot of sense actually... So your'e telling me that thing shoots metal? It's so small!"
y/n: "Well, you reload with clips, I'm assuming you reload by swapping ink tanks, and the clips are full of bullets, which have a brass casing that fires lead pellets, pointed at the end so it can penetrate through armor (and bodies), to effectively kill whatever you aim at. It has a really loud firing sound, just so you know."
Jessica: "Well, we pressurize the ink in the tank and that's how we shoot ink. We reload the ink by going in our squid forms and collecting it from there. About you wanting to shoot that gun, we'll have to talk to Sheldon. He works at AmmoKnights in the square."
y/n: "How am I going to go out in public without some random craziness happening?"
Jessica: "Well... What if we say, we found a human? Then give it, oh, a week or so and it will die down. Then you can go out in public without anything crazy happening."
y/n: "Where will I wait it out? I technically now have no home."
Jessica: "... What about Here? I can bring in food and water if you need it, and before you know it, you can find your own place. Sound good?
y/n: "Thank you."
Jessica: "No problem. It's not like we get to see a living human every day. By the way, what's your name?"
y/n: "y/n n/n, but you can call me n/n."
Jessica: "Well you can call me Jess."
