quick authors note: the last chapter made me cringe so badly, that I didn't want to write for a whole month. I kept telling myself to, but I never did. Until now.

y/n pov

I was somewhere in Inkopolis. I don't know where exactly, but it couldn't have been another city. There was still as much sea life as ever. I looked around for a while, until I saw someone on a bench. It looked a lot like Callie when I saw her, so I went toward her. The inklings didn't seem to notice I existed, which was odd. I looked down at myself, to see I didn't exist, or at least my lower body didn't. I wasn't attracting any attention, so I must be completely invisible. I sat next to Callie. She was on her phone, just scrolling through stuff, looking really happy. She was kind of cute like that. Not in the attractive kind of way, but like she was a child. Innocent. I understand why Marie loves her so much. I tried to talk to her, but nothing came out of my mouth, so I just relaxed with her for a while, until she got up and went into an alleyway. I followed. My movements uncontrollably got slower as I followed her, and I completely stopped when we were well out of sight of anyone. Suddenly, some octarians popped out of nowhere and took Callie. I tried my hardest to move and save her, but it was no use. She was fighting back, but the octarians just beat her whenever she made a move. The scene was... very unsettling, to say the least. She was dragged around a corner, and I fell onto the concrete below me. I feel hatred to the octarians now more than ever... I slowly and groggily woke up. What are they going to do to that poor girl? Rather, what did they do? Also, where's Nate?

narrator pov

After getting up, y/n realized he was late, and Nate left without him to catch the train. After a long but determined walk, y/n popped out of the grate into octo canyon once more. Marie was looking at her phone with a bulky looking radio next to her.

Marie: Oh, hey! I was wondering if you would make it today. Did you stay up late?

y/n: No, just had a dream.

Marie: About?

y/n: Nothing important...

Marie: It's obviously something if 4 tried to wake you up multiple times and failed.

y/n: ...

Marie: Anyway, care to watch 4 fail with me?

She motioned for him to sit next to her on the couch. He did so, and looked at her phone screen to see 4 in combat.

4: Marie, a little help here!

4 was almost out of ink, facing multiple shielded octarians with no cover nearby. y/n could tell he had vary little time left.

2: Don't worry, y/n's he-

0: FLANK EM!

4: I CAN'T, I'M TOO SLOW!

0: ROLL!

4: I CAN ONLY DO THAT WITH DUALIES!

0: WHAT?

4 was almost at the edge of the platform now, and was cornered.

0: FAKE YOUR DEATH!

4: WHAT?

0: Hang off the ledge of the platform, shuffle to the side-

4: NO TIME!

He was at the edge.

Marie: Ink the ground below you, hide until your ink is back.

4 chose Marie's plan, probably because it was the safer option for inklings. This was the first time y/n had witnessed how stupid the octarians were, because they acted like 4 just disappeared.
