I know what you're doing - I think it could work man

I rolled my eyes at the text message I received from Anthony as I turned off the car. I took a second to type a quick response. Shut up, I'm not doing anything.

He believed that my only interest in going to this cleanup was because of Maeve. And while yes, my small interest in her might have helped persuade me into going today. But in all honesty, after doing research last night, I wanted to. I always knew that climate change was a thing, but I guess it wasn't until last night that I wanted to do something about it.

Selfish, I know. But at least I was attempting at changing.

It was early in the morning, almost too early, but I was glad to be awake. I had the entire day stretched out in front of me and I was looking forward to it.

Elizabeth's car was in front of mine and I waited until she stepped out of it to get out of mine. She was kind enough to let me follow her through the mess the Malibu roads were.

"You ready?" She asked me.

This was one of the first times that I had ever really seen her so dressed down. She was wearing leggings and a loose t-shirt. Her hair was tied up and her face was clean of makeup. I couldn't remember a time when I saw her in something other than her Wanda costume or party clothes.

"Yeah, I am." My realization of her attire caused a small amount of insecurity to flare through me. I had only decided on gym shorts and a regular t - shirt because we would be cleaning up a beach.

Suddenly my mind was telling me it was too much but not enough at the same time.

"You okay?" Elizabeth asked me. She must have noticed my hesitation.

"Yeah, yeah." I said and locked the car. "This her house?"

"The one and only. Isn't it so adorable?" She asked with a laugh. I could tell from her level of comfort that she has been here a thousand times. She probably has.

I followed her through the white gate and up the steps to the front house. Then, she dug through her purse until she pulled out a key and went to unlock the door.

"Maevie, we are here. Scarlet said she would meet us there." Elizabeth called out as she opened the door.

I followed her into the house and immediately noticed the way the house smelt; a mixture of lemon and the beach - but that was probably because they lived right in front of it.
