The salt in the air was different. It almost felt lighter. Maybe that's because there was less pollution. Maybe it's because I was further up north. I wasn't sure what it was. Maybe it was because of the water.

Either way, it was beautiful. It was so beautiful. It brought peace to my mind. It brought calmness to a raging storm.

But Louis was right, the waves weren't as great.

Sawyer loved in. She stood in the shallow water picking up shells and putting them in a pile. She loved collecting them. I can't believe she's going to be five soon.

My little brother was sitting next to me. His fingers were tapping away at a tablet as he went through work related things. I wanted to tell him to put it away and live in the moment. But this unexpected visit was already putting him out enough. I didn't want to disrupt his work.

"Are you thinking about it?" He asked me over the soft sound of the waves and Sawyer's giggles.

"I'm trying not to." I pulled my knees up to my chest and hugged them.

"There could be worse things."

"Enlighten me."

"Well, at least you have a living dad."

"That's not funny." I smacked his arm as he chuckled at his stupid joke. "I mean... what kind of messed up crap is this?"

Louis shut off his tablet and looked at me. "I know know, it's definitely interesting."

"This is stuff that comes out of movies! Of stupid cliche plots. I mean, seriously, Robert is my dad. What the fuck is that?"

"Well, you know what they say." Louis said with a knowing smile. "Reality if often stranger than fiction."

I rolled my eyes. "Well you know what our lord and savior said, reality is often disappointing."

Louis laughed at my words. "I'm still honored I was able to read the script to Infinity War."

"You're lucky I trust you not to talk. I could be sued for like a million dollars."

"Please. Who am I going to tell? The fish?"

I laughed loudly at my brother and looked at him, eyes like our mother staring back at me. Sadness over look me as my laughter died down and I frowned slightly. "Why do you think she kept it from me?"
