The rest of my time in Italy was spent lounging on the beach with my daughter and brother, and then googling everything there was to know about what to expect for a second pregnancy. I tried to write everything down and figure out how far along I was.
I knew that it had to have been back in May when I saw him last. So that meant I must be five or six weeks. It had to be, right?
Either way, I tried my best to enjoy the time I had left with my brother and his partners. We explored a little more of Avola and the beauty it had, and then spent even more time swimming in the beautiful water of the Mediterranean Sea. I even called to make an appointment for the doctor when I get back.
And when it was finally time to leave, Sawyer cried and whined about wanting to stay. She didn't like the plane and she didn't like sitting still for so long.
It was hard saying goodbye to my brother and his loves. I promised them that I would visit again soon, after things were settled. And they promised they would come out to Malibu. Louis still had to come back and see our grandparents.
The flight was long, and I had spent nearly the entire fourteen hour flight making sure Sawyer was entertained. She only cried once or twice but I was able to keep her quiet.
Before I left Italy, I had sent a single message to Robert saying that I would be coming home and I wanted to talk to him. The same message also went to Sebastian.
Little did I expect, after getting back to the U.S. and going through customs and dragging a whining Sawyer through the airport, that I would drive up to my house in exhaustion, and see a party outside of my house.
Robert's car was parked on the street and behind his was Sebastian's. Then there was Lizzie's. All of whom were sitting on the table in my front yard.
"Oh no." I said aloud and shifted my car into park.
Bird was barking and was the first one to come over and greet me, his nose sniffing and smelling every place I had been in the last few days.
Lizzie came up to me next and gave me a hug. "I missed you. This is going to be hard. Are you okay?"
I looked behind her and saw both Robert and Sebastian waiting for me as well. They hung back. Robert was more hesitant. "Yeah, I'll be okay. Can you take Sawyer inside?"
Lizzie looked at me for a second and then nodded. "Okay." She opened up the back door of my car and I watched her I strap Sawyer from her seat and lift the sleepy girl. "Hey baby, how is my favorite niece today?"
"I am sleepy." She mumbled and wrapped her arms around Lizzie's neck.
Lizzie looked at me with a reassuring face and then went inside the house. Bird followed her, excited to see Sawyer again.
