River swung hers and JJ's hands up and down as they walked down the street. She was overly happy, JJ wasn't sure if it was because he had kissed her or if it was because her Grandpa had offered to let her move in for the second time aparently. JJ tried not to be mad that she hadn't told him, but he was hurt.

Pope had told him earlier, he said that JJ deserved to know. Pope had also told him that he thought it would be a good idea for River, JJ agreed in a way. He knew that River deserved a better home life, but his doubts clouded his judgement and he couldn't help but think that she'd forget about him and become friends with Kooks like Topper and Kelce. Maybe she'd even start hanging around with her cousin, Rafe.

"I think I'm gonna head home." JJ announced, River pulled them both to a stop. JJ knew she wouldn't be happy about that.

"No." She snapped bluntly.

"Ri-"

"No JJ. I said no. You are not going back home." Her blue eyes scanned over his face. "Have you seen your chest JJ? You are black and blue. That's something I never want to see again. Do you understand me. So, no. You're not going home." She didn't care if he thought she was being controlling or stubborn, she needed him safe.

JJ scoffed and pulled his hand away. "Not like you'd care any ways." He clenched his jaw, he knew he was letting his thoughts get the best of him, but he couldn't help it.

"What?" River furrowed her brows, she wasn't even sure if she heard him right. "I wouldn't care?" She angrily chuckled. "Me? I woul-"

"Pope told me alright?! He told me about the offer your Grandpa made you. And you're gonna leave me. And you're going to become a Kook and probably get with Topper. And have his children and be rich and go to fancy parties and drink expensive alcohol."  JJ ran his hand over his face as a few tears rolled down his face, just at the thought of her leaving him. "And I know I'm just your best friend so-"

"You're more than that." River cut the blonde boy off.

"I am?" JJ questioned.

"You ar-" River was cut off by JJ's hands cupping her face. River's breath hitched, her eyes flickered to his lips. She missed them.

"I want to be more than that baby girl." JJ tucked a stray peice of her hair behind her ear, making River softly smile. She looked up at him through her lashes. The moon was making her already bright blue eyes appear brighter. JJ smiled, he couldn't help it. He felt happy and safe. "You are so beautiful."

River blushed a deep red, and shook her head no. JJ chuckled. "So fucking beautiful." He said as he placed light kisses all over her face. River let out a giddy giggle as JJ placed a kiss next to her lips. They both stoped and became silent. He didn't pull too far away from her.

He leant down an rested his head on hers. "JJ? What are you do-" She knee exactly what he was doing.

JJ gently pressed his lips against her, his hands traveling down to her waist and pulling her into him. River smiled into the kiss and wrapped her arms around his neck and her fingers made their way to his hair. The kiss was slow at first, the pair was still getting used to the idea of them being more than just friends.

But it felt right.

JJ pulled away first, only for a split second. River's lips were parted slightly, she missed him already. She wanted his lips on hers,

now.

She pulled him back down, much rougher this time. JJ smirked slightly and cupped the back of River's neck.

He wanted her.

He needed her.

"Is this right?" River questioned breathlessly as JJ kissed down her neck. "I-Oh fuck it." She whispered.

JJ pulled away and ran his thumb over the now forming hickey, he let a boyish grin form on his face. "This is right." He smiled. "I want it, if you do." River nodded with a smile and looked up at him. She mentally cursed him for being so tall.

"Please don't go home J." She whispered anxiously, she let her hands trail down his chest and linked their hands together, "I don't want you to get hurt again." Tears threated to spill from her cheeks. "Pleas-"

"I am home." He whispered and pulled her into his chest. "You're my home." He pleaced a light kiss on her head.

"I'm sorry for being so emotional, it was me who got hurt it was you, but I-"

"I understand Ri." JJ cut the girl off. "Thank you for caring about me." He whispered into her hear. "Now let's go home."

"To John B's?" She questioned innocently, as she wiped her eyes.

"Yes baby girl, to John B's." JJ confirmed, River pulled away from the boy and linked their hands together. "Hopefully, he's back there."

Kie had gone to John B's house to see if he was there while River and JJ decided to walk around some of his favourite places to see if he was there,

unfortunately,

they got distracted.
