Dear D,
I know I promised that I would fill in an entry everyday, but my sister fell really sick yesterday morning and unfortunately, we had to take her to the hospital. Alhamdulilah, it's just the baby fever and she was discharged earlier today. I feel so bad for her, my sister almost never falls sick and here...

Anyways, I was busy yesterday trying to make her comfortable- packing her clothes, cooking for her and keeping her company. Her husband had to stay with her, so the driver had to take me to go and get one of her medicines at the pharmacy, as they didn't have that particular one.

I ended up sleeping at home though, I argued with her husband but he insisted that he was going to stay. I said she was my sister but he said she's his wife, and it's his baby so obviously, I lost. I had to sleep all alone in this house, as the cleaning lady doesn't sleep over. Technically, I didn't sleep, I spent most of the time up and praying for her.

When she got back home earlier and I made sure she had eaten, and she was resting, I fell asleep and only woke up when it was time for prayer, so after I prayed, I just spent most of the time reading the Qur'an.

Well, I'm going to share one verse or two here in every entry, so, here we go.

Al-'Alaq 96:1

ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ

Recite in the name of your Lord who created -

Al-'Alaq 96:2

خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ

Created man from a clinging substance.

These verses are the first that were revealed to Prophet Muhammad SAW, and as God could have chosen ANY way, to reveal it, he decided that it's best to use these words.

First, Angel Jubril had said just "Read", but of course, Muhammad (SAW) couldn't, as he wasn't learned, and in fact, what would he read? Angel Jubril squeezed him very tight, and repeated the whole process again, and after the 3rd time, he said:

Recite in the name of your Lord who created -

And subhanallah, the prophet began to read.

One, this teaches us that we should actually do, begin everything we want to be blessed, that seems impossible at first, with the name of God.

Two, it also teaches us again, that nothing is impossible with God. Imagine, prophet Muhammad (SAW), who had never learnt how to read or write, reciting such beautiful words, perfectly without errors.

And so, that's all for today! It's so long. I'd try to keep them shorter the next time.

I spent most of the evening on YouTube by the way, watching short videos, both the ones that we useful and unfortunately, the ones that were useless.

Don't mind me, lol! What can I do? There's free internet access here.

I have been avoiding having a conversation with my sister, I don't know how to console her, and stuff.
I called Kawthar though, and we spoke a lottttttttt.

I slept immediately after my Isha prayers, as I want to start waking up early to pray Tahajjud.

Oh, and I started a new book! It's called "The Silent Sister", and I have a feeling it's going to be funnnnn.

Oh, I also texted Adeel. He called when I was taking care of my sister so I couldn't pick at that moment. I've also been trying to limit my conversations with him, so I decided a text would do.

Oh, and guess who's coming over tomorrow?
Yes! Fareedah! And I'm so glad because our combo would definitely lighten up the atmosphere here, and we can make my sister laugh and be happy lol.
She can only stay for two days though, as her mum is going to end her Iddah next week in Sha Allah.

But 2 days is better than nothing!

Yours,
A.
