(Y/n) stared at the gold sparkling floor, her mind blank once again.
The palace was quiet without her mother's evil presence roaming around. It felt like a heavy weight lift off her shoulders now that everything seemed calm. Her mother had left the kingdom to go treat Eric's mother and wouldn't be back for a while. For now, the kingdom was under (y/n)'s watch but she still couldn't leave the palace grounds. Instead, she would sit in her mothers throne all day and patiently wait for her to return. It was fine though, she had the whole palace to herself. She wasn't pressured to wake up at the crack of dawn nor was she forced to eat food she didn't want to. She could finally have time to think without being shouted at to get her head out of the gutter.
The loud sound of the large wooden doors slamming close made (y/n) bring her attention to the guards who dragged the peasant inside. The peasant shouted curse words to the guards, struggling to get out of their hard grip but they didn't budge. They shoved her to her knees, pulling the hood away and uncovering her face. The peasant kept her face down, avoiding from making eye contact with the cruel princess in front of her.
A small sigh left (y/n)'s mouth before fixing her posture, giving her a much colder look. Time to put up the fake act her mother taught her.
"Why did you bring her here?"
"My lady, we caught her trying to steal one of your roses from the garden."
She clicked her tongue, annoyed that a peasant tried to steal her precious roses that were luckily surviving through the cold snow. Thanks to Kurapika, his careful work and love for plants has made them the only roses in the kingdom to survive the cold weather. They were extremely rare around the region and for a peasant to just try and take them sparked a rage inside her.
She stared down at the girl in front of her, blood streaming down her neck, she figured that the peasant tried to put up a fight and only ended up getting hit by one of the guards. She failed miserably, her guards didn't have a scratch on their uniforms.
Her blood dripped onto the glistening floor, slowly making a puddle around her. She stood up from her throne, her heels clicking as she walked towards the peasant.
"What makes you so special for you to barge into my home and steal my roses?"
"An eye for an eye, your guards took my fingers I think it's fair for me to take one your roses."
"It'd die if it was in your hands."
"It'd die if it was in your hands too. That's why you have the blond gardener taking care of them." She spat, not fearing for her life anymore, she knew she would suffer the consequences so it was better to just speak her mind knowing her fate wouldn't change.
(Y/n)'s lips twitched to a smile, she was tempted to laugh but she held it inside. She crossed her arms and inspected the girl, slowly becoming more interested in her. No one had ever dared to speak to her like that, yet here a low class scum had the confidence to do so.
"What's her name?" She asked the guards, almost as if she was their dog. The girl raised an eyebrow and the guards shared a glance. Never did the royals bother asking anyone's names when they got caught, usually they would take one look and then throw them in the oven. Her mother always said you don't name your food.
