Chapter 11

Damian walked into his classroom but before he sat down, he overheard some guys talking about who they would ask to go out to the Prom.

I almost forgot that Valentine's Day is fast approaching. He thought

"What's that?" Neon asked

"It's just a one-time thing," Damian replied

Suddenly, Zack rushed towards him in a hurry. "Perfect timing." he said, "You gotta come quick. It's urgent."

"Mind telling me what's going on first?" Damian asked

"I'll explain on the way. Hurry!" Zack ran out of the room as Damian shrugged and followed behind.

They headed out of the building and into the football field. Zack motioned Damian to hide with him near the benches.

Then Zack pointed ahead. "Over there," he said

Damian followed his gaze. He saw Maria standing there while a couple of boys were in front of her in a formation but one guy, in particular, was in between them like holding a proposal. Then it occurred to him. He remembered who that guy was. It was Ezel Princeton, the school's football varsity captain. Most of the girls would want him to be their Prom date but this time Ezel chose Maria.

Ezel then spreads out his arms which signals the boys behind him to lift cardboards and stick together to form the words, "Will you go out to the Prom with me?"

Even though he knew what was going on, Damian was stunned and somewhat a little disappointed.

On the other hand, Maria just stood there and just smiled at him. "Um, let me think about it." she then replied.

Ezel's face looked deflated but tried his best to hide his true feelings. "Wh-what do you mean? I know you can't resist being with me."

Maria's smile broke. She then gave him a hard glare. Bad move Ezel.

"I appreciate your efforts. I do." she said, "However, you might as well find someone who meets your expectations." With that, she just walked away.

Ezel dropped his hands and stared in disbelief. "That's the 3rd time she said that," he muttered. He then looked at the boys behind him who were as disappointed as he is.

"Can we go now? I'm hungry." one of them said.

They all agreed and they walked towards the building exhausted.

On the other hand, Damian raised an eyebrow and looked at Zack, "Remind me again why you brought me out to see this?"
