It was almost 5 PM and after playing one last game, sing karaoke, and whatnot, they all decided to go to their rooms. The thing is, each of the rooms they booked they had to be by group. Fortunately, the rooms they rented had bunk beds.
Damian ended up in a room with James, Samantha, Jonathan, Ace, and Jolar. To be fair, he was getting comfortable with the group anyway. At one point, they all had a pillow fight till they were tired.
While they were playing games or watching videos on their phones, Damian decided to go out and get some fresh air.
He walked around the beach while being lost in his own thoughts as he begins to wonder if he'll ever take a break from all that has happened around him so far. Until he saw a girl in the distance. When he walked closer, he recognized her right away.
"Maria?" he said,
Maria quickly turned around and was shocked to see him. "Oh, hi! What are you doing here?" she asked,
"On a little trip with my classmates." Damian replied, "What are you doing here?"
"The same thing as you, but we left about a week ago."
"Oh?"
"Yep. To be honest, I didn't expect to see you here."
"Neither did I."
Later, they sat on the beach chairs that were nearby. They were quiet for a while as the wind blows smooth and the waves splashed in the water.
"Do you remember when you tried to defend me from Tristan?" Maria asked,
"Yeah." Damian replied, "What about him?"
"Lately, he's been texting me about not replying to his text and saying that he wants me back even though I caught him cheating with another girl," Maria said,
Damian's eyes widened and he was speechless, "I...I didn't know that."
"Yeah, well, now I've been thinking if I had done something wrong that made him go through that." Maria continued, "However, I don't recall any of that at all."
"To tell you the truth, I don't believe it was your fault." Damian told her, "Tristan brought that problem upon himself. Don't blame yourself for something you didn't do."
Maria thought about it for a moment, "I guess you could say that," she said,
"And now that topic had me thinking of a poem I thought in my head."
"Oh? Let's hear it."
"Love is like a flower.
Treat it with care
and never let it die anywhere.
In the end, that bond will last forever."
"Sounds nice." Maria complimented, "It reminds me of that poem you gave me before that Prom night."
"I guess you could say that," Damian said. He then checked his watch. It was already 7 in the evening. "I think we should go back to our rooms." he then told her,
Maria stood up, "Yeah. I think we should." she said, "Nice chatting with you."
"Same here," Damian smiled and so did Maria.
After saying their goodbyes, they went back to their rooms. As soon as Damian went inside, he noticed that his friends were looking at him funny, smiling from ear to ear.
"What?" Damian asked,
"Bro, who do you pick: Maria or Justine?" Jonathan said,
Damian scoffed at that idea, "I ain't gonna answer that."
"Yiieeeeee!" Samantha said, "Tell us!"
Damian just mimicked zipping his lips and went to bed.
