Chapter 38

I look up at the dark ceiling as I am unable to sleep yet again. I look around the room as people turn off their lights and settle in the their sleeping bags.

An hour or two pass and the place is silent it's dark and every once in a while an officer comes in on patrol walks around and then leaves and then another comes in a few minutes later.

After the last one leaves I get up and tip toe along the edge of the room to get to the door leading to the main room.

I reach it and crack the door. Peeking threw I see two officers by the door across the room, but they suddenly leave. I move through the door and tip toe along the wall every one in there sections sleeping on the floor. Snores fill the air as I get closer and closer to the door. I peek my head through the open door looking down the hall to wear the bathroom was near. Seemed to be all clear I walk through the door way and head in the direction of the bathroom.

" Can I help you with anything ma'am?" I hear behind me as I stop in my tracks.

" Um yes, I mean no, I'm just going to the restroom " I say not at all smoothly and turn to see the attractive officer who helped us off the helicopter.

" It's straight ahead to the left " he says pointing down the hall.

" Thank you " I say as I turn around and walk to it walking in I shut the door and lock it.

I catch my breath from that scare and use he rest room. I wash my hands and face as I exit the bathroom.

"Let me walk you to your living section ma'am " the officer says as he seemed to wait in the hall for me.

" It's Riley, and I think I'm ok officer " I say.

" Josh " he says quietly.

" Huh? " I say getting closer.

" Josh my name is josh " he says a little louder.

Josh seemed young like 19 maybe and quit innocent. He had a harmless kind behavior. He was tall and skinny like Axel but with reddish blonde hair and copper eyes.

" Oh, well nice to meet you josh " I say as I shake his hand. They were warm kinda sweaty.

" Can we walk? " He asks me.

" Sure " I say I don't think he's gonna kill me, I'm not going to fall asleep any way and maybe I can find out some info.

We walk from down the Hal a little ways this part of the building was like a maze lots of halls but I think he new were to go.

" So... what's your story? " He asks as we walk.

" What do you mean? " I say stopping looking at him.

" Like your story from the incident till now " he asks as we walk on.

" Ohh ok, " I say before thinking of what to say.

" Well.. it started with me and my sister at home then my mom threw us out to get fresh air and we walked and walked and then before we turned back to get home we saw.. it..."

" By it you mean the zombies..." He clears his throat. " I mean the terminally ill " he says sounding a bit more professional.

" Yes the terminally ill, so we ran to a house were this boy named jake lived we stayed with him for a while before more joined Axel, Isaac, and Sam and later we found my family friends Brice and his two siblings we stayed at the house a little while longer till I decided to leave them for certain stupid reasons and go..." I am interrupted again.

" What stupid reason? "

" Um it was just me being stupid and selfish " I say not really feeling like getting to in to detail.

" Come on tell me " he says begging.

" Um well I fell in love with some one and didn't want to hurt any one..." I stop mid thought and walk and lean against the wall sliding to the ground.

He joins me sliding to the ground next to me.

" Continue " he says smiling.

" Oh yeah, I'm so I fell in love with Axel and I fell in love with all of them I just, this hole thing, I just didn't want them to get hurt by me like get to attached if they were just going to be bite by zombies..."

" terminally ill " he interrupts and laughs a little.

" Right terminally ill" I say smirking.

" If they died I don't know what I would do and if I died I didn't want them to have to go through that pain " my eyes water a little.

" I just, have so mAny mixed feelings about this disease, it killed my neighbors and a friend and my father but it brought me Axel, jake, Isaac ,Sam, the Carter's even Hannah and Allen rest in peace bud " I say whispering the last part as a few tears fall over.

" It brought my family close together and my new family to me I know that sounds selfish but so be it " I say breathing out.

" I mean if you can find love in something it can't be that bad right? " I say looking down at my palms.

" You are absolutely right " he says his eyes slightly watered.

" Ok finish you story now " he says excitedly. He seemed to be enjoying this reality I was living.

I continued the story about how I got shot and made to to Grandma's and got reunited with my mom and how Bruce got hurt and how I fell deeply in love with Axel and how we got here.

" And that's how we got here, and that's all I have to say about that " I say smiling and them begin to cry again because I just quoted Forrest Gump, my dad's favorite movie.

" Sorry " I say wiping my face shaking it off.

" Don't be sorry for being open a bout your feelings, about pain, about love, the thing about it is that it demands to be felt " (John Green) ( for all the TFIOS fans ;)

I look in to his eyes and smile.

" Your really easy to talk to you know that I'm not a very open person " I say questioning my self.

" I get that a lot " he smirks and nods.

" So what's yours? " I ask

" Mine my story you mean?"

" Yep "

" Well it's no where near as good as yours but it started with.... "

A.N: ok so the book will be coming to an end soon I know so sad but don't be cause I've got something up my sleeve hint hint a sequel I hope you enjoy my work so far please please please vote and comment it hurts my feelings when you don't even if my grammar sucks comment on it so I can fix it thank you so much for read lots of love - Becca
