Broken Promises Series #1.
"I'll come back. I promise!"
I waved at Lola Toyang as we began walking. We were walking because our car is at the walking-distance park near the flower shop where my Lola Cora is.
"Mommy! Daddy!" I turned to the both of them.
"Yes, baby?"
"I wanna go to the park!"
"Wait baby, daddy needs to answer this call, okay? Stay still."
"Oki, daddy!" I said as I played with my two pigtails. I'm so excited to go to this park because it is my first time here in this province.
"Let's go baby," daddy held my hands and we walked until we reached the park.
"Yey! Daddy, let's Iaro doon, please!" I then pointed the see-saw and the slides. It felt like my eyes sparkled as I saw that a streak of the sun gleamed on the stainless handles all over the place.
"Okay, baby. Just don't hurt yourself, oki? Lola Cora and I will wait for you there." Mom said while pointing at the flower shop across the park. "But your daddy will watch over you in that bench, okay?" she pointed and reminded.
"Okay, Mommy! Thank you!" I tiptoed to kiss her on her cheeks.
I then played and played and played. I was holding my chest because I was cherishing my pretty necklace while I was playing. I am scared to lose it, eh. It was my Dad's gift to me. It has the letter 'ASV' engraved on it. And it looks so pretty because it is in my favorite color - rose gold! I just hope I won't lose it.
While examining the place, I saw a pink slide and wanted to play on it. But when I was going to stand up, I fell from the see-saw.
Mag-isa ba namang nag-see-saw, eh.
"Oop!"
I gasped and saw a boy. He managed to catch me.
"Hala!" I exclaimed while looking at my knee. I got scared but thankfully, I didn't have any wound.
"Are you alright?" He asked me and I can see how concerned he is just by looking in his eyes.
"T-thank you." I exclaimed out of embarrassment. "I'm okay. Don't worry." I said and fixed my self.
"Just be more careful next time, okay?" He said. There were a few strands of hair falling over his forehead. It was probably because he was playing here for hours. He was wearing a blue printed shirt paired with white shorts. He looks expensive. I also saw that he was wearing a pair of Jordans.
I-treat kita for catching me. Baka nagkasugat na ako kung hindi mo ako nasalo, eh." Sabi ko habang nakangiti.
I saw his face lit up. "Gusto ko! Tara doon, oh!" sabi niya sabay hila sa kanang braso ko. He's cute.
"Wait up! Baka madapa tayo!"
"Manong Carlos! Manong Carlos!"
"Oh? Sino iyan? Girlfriend mo ba?" tanong ng lalaki. Siguro mga nasa 40's na siya.
"Si Manong Carlos talaga, oh!" He laughed. "Bibili lang kami ng ice cream. May cookies and cream po ba?"
"Oo meron! Ilan ba ang bibilhin ninyo?"
"Manong, dalawa po." sabi ko sabay abot ng 20 pesos.
Nag-scoop na siya ng ice cream sa apa.
"Oh, heto na. Masarap iyan, hija. Mukhang bago ka lang dito, ah." sabi ni Manong sabay abot ng ice cream.
"Thank you po. Binisita lang po namin sila Lola Toyang dito." sabi ko sabay ngiti.
"Ay ganoon ba? Lola mo pala si Aling Toyang! Naku, napakabait nu'n."
"Opo! Sobra po." sabi ko sabay ngiti.
I looked at my right side. The whole ice cream scoop was inside his mouth.
I giggled. "He is really cute," I whispered to myself.
"Ha? What?" gulat niyang tanong.
I chuckled. "Silly, I didn't say anything," pag-eeme ko.
"Baby!" I turned when I heard my daddy is calling me already.
"Oh no! We are going home na," sabi ko sa kaniya.
"Ay. Okay, take care!" He smiled.
"Thank you again for saving me," sabi ko sabay ngiti.
"Wala 'yun," he laughed. "Babye!" he grinned then said while waving at me. I can see his dimples poking because of smiling.
"Bye!" I mouthed at him. He waited until I entered our car. Then he smiled again and waved at me.
I was 2 kilometers away from the park when I realized that I didn't ask his name. I was so stupid.
I was so stupid for not asking my first love's name.
