The Not So New Guy

I was still pretty angry about what was happening, but I knew I couldnt blame Bill. He told me he needed to sort things anyway, but Dumbledore and that minister guy said that he needed to be changed, not sure why.

So we went up to Dumbledore's office and he moaned at me a bit about taking it out on Bill. I apologised to Bill and he seemed alright with it, he apologised too but I didnt accept it, he didnt need to apologise. So now I was stuck in Severus' quarters at the weekend, becuase there was no one to go anywhere with. Remus had said he needed to do marking and was very busy, so did Severus.

So I was alone and sitting on the sofa bored. I was going to meet the new escort person later today ready for tomorrow, because it was Sunday. I knew I probably wouldnt like them anyway, not after Bill, I wished it would be Remus or Severus but obviously they teach so its impossible.

I lay on my back and stared at the ceiling for ages, I was waiting for Severus to come back so that we could go for lunch. It had been two hours now. He said he would be back for lunch though and I was starving!

"Right then Poppy, we can go now." Oh, I didnt hear him come in. I looked over the top of the sofa at his face.

"Ok." I shrugged and then jumped up. We made our way to the great hall and I took my usual seat by Remus. I sighed and looked down when Bill didnt turn up.

"Hey Poppy, down worry, I dont even know who it will be, but it wont be that bad." Remus spoke. I just nodded and then grabbed a couple of sandwiches. I nibbled on them but finished them in the end, as usual I had a few stares from people, even after nearly three weeks. Its still over a month away, but ive been hearing about Halloween at Hogwarts and it does sound fun.

There may even be a party apparently. I saw Regan most days after lessons still, but I knew his friends didnt like it, he didnt seem to care. He saw me at the table and smiled, I let out a little smile too and then he turned away.

"So Remus, who do you think it will be?" I asked as I turned to him. He shrugged slightly.

"Im honestly not sure, but I do know that the minister had a lot of influence over it." Thats just great, its not going to be anyone nice then.

"Great, I just cant wait." I muttered. I glared at my plate, this wasnt going to end well. I looked to my right at Severus.

"Can we go back down to the rooms now?" We had been in the lunch hall for nearly half an hour.

"Yes, I think that is best." He got up and I followed, I noticed that Remus did as well. We made our way all the way down to the living quarters and then Severus let me in first, which was a bit strange. I went and sat down, but I noticed that Remus and Severus had a quiet talk, which I couldnt hear unfortunately.

They then came into the room and I scowled at them, they definitly knew something.

"What do you know?" I asked. Severus just looked as he usually did, but Remus tried to look innocent.

"What do you mean?" He tried to sound a bit shocked. Thats not going to work.

"Honestly Remus, just tell me." I sighed. He looked at me for a few seconds and then Severus spoke.

"We need to be in Dumbledore's office by 3 O'clock. That was all. Remus was informing me." He spoke normally. I wanted to believe that was everthing but I didnt. I just nodded and then shrugged.

"Okay then, Ill wait." I then turned away from them both.

I ignored them for a while and just sat, once again, staring at nothing. 3 O'clock was coming really slowly. I went into my room and sat down on the bed, thoroughly bored. No one ever offered to take me out onto the grounds or for a walk, I was always stuck in my room.
