Bryce's POV:

I wanted to take Juli and watch the sunrise again. It made her happy, plus, I had nothing to lose. I didn't have to spend money and we were close to the school anyway. We live in a part of the country where the sun rises around 6:45. Classes start at 7 so we had an extra 10 minutes to relax, enjoy the sunrise and the remaining 5 minutes spent to walk to school.

In addition, I was left with a date with the girl of my dreams, both happily watching the beautiful view of the sunrise. It was a bargain.

Unfortunately, today, my stupid alarm clock fell off of my night stand right below my bed. I was planning to wake up at 6 to get ready and get Juli but I woke up 25 minutes late. I was horrified when I picked up my clock and saw the time read 6:25.

Okay, don't judge me, but I spend at least 30 minutes to wash up and get dressed. I know, quite fast you might say, but to boys my age, I'm practically like a girl.

So yeah, no pressure, I ain't freaking out.

I was in a hurry but I managed to fit 10 minutes of getting myself dressed. I got out the door at 6:35. The only problem was that I didn't get to eat breakfast. My mom usually does the cooking for breakfast but she figured that I'd wake up early again so she left a loaf of bread and two jars of peanut butter and jelly on the counter, along with my pocket money but I didn't have time to make myself one. I snatched the pocket money and went straight to the door.

We still had to walk 10 more minutes to the park and enjoy the sunrise at exactly 6:45. We might miss it if we walked though. I made my way across the street to pick Juli up. I knocked at her window to see that she was  ready. She signaled me to wait at her front door and I did. She shut her windows and I saw my reflection. My hair was not just in a mess, it looked wet and untidy. I looked like a homeless guy. I combed my hair with my fingers instead as I walked to her door.

She got out carrying her books and a plastic bag. I greeted her good morning and kissed her hair.

"Bryce? Are you okay? You look like you got electrocuted" she joked. My hair was really that bad.

"It's just that my stupid alarm clock fell off and I didn't hear it. I usually take a long time to get myself ready. I just didn't want to miss the sunrise."

"Well then, we should probably ride our bikes there," she went to her garage and took out a bicycle while I went to take mine. We rode there and we managed to get there in 5 minutes. We made our way up to the hill and sat down to wait for the sunrise.

"Oh, I almost forgot," she said as she reached for the plastic bag and handed it over to me.

"What's this?" I smiled as I took it.

"Well, I know for a fact that you dont wake up this early. You were always last to get to the bus stop for the past 6 years," she giggled. "And then you came to my house 5 minutes late so I brought you breakfast in case you hadn't eaten."

I was so grateful. I was honestly hungry. "How is it possible that you know me so well? Thanks, beb" I gave her another kiss as I opened the clear tupperware and ate the fried rice with sausages.

I enjoyed breakfast and managed to finish it before the sun rose. It was really tasty and they were my favourite.

We watched as it struck light across the lake. A new day. Juli was amazed.

"I used to always watch the sunrise, but I still never got tired of it," she mentioned as her hair blew behind her by the wind. It was quite a scene. She looked even more beautiful in the light. If she never gets tired of the sunrise, I would never get tired of staring at her.

We stood up from where we sat when it was time to go to school. I threw the plastic container in the bin and we set off for school.

I walked her to all her classes we didn't share. Classrooms were not really far so I was never late while doing this.

Last subject of the day was Literature. Juli and I walked to Miss Gem's class to see that she wasn't there yet. We sat down by the window, as she wanted, and got our poems ready. I was sweating like a bullet. I was nervous to tell her my feelings. I reread my poem. I'm not gonna lie, Juli really was a good muse. My poem turned out great. Only the very best for her.

She sat beside me as she practiced her own. She didn't read it out loud though, so I still didn't know its contents. At the corner of my eye, on her paper, I saw a really long poem. Not longer than mine though.

I mean, I don't consider myself a writer, but I'm proud that I was able to express my feelings through a poem.

To tell you the truth, growing up, I used to not understand the importance of poetry. For me, they were just rhymes of the last word in a sentence. I didn't get why sappy love songs have them. But now I think I do.

Poems were used to express your inner most feelings towards a person with great attributes. It increases your knowledge about vocabularies and how to put them together.

A 'Work of Art' as how some people tends to put it.

For my work, I tried not to be as sappy as poems sound like but I couldn't help it.

I reread my poem once again before I heard Ms. Gem walking into the room.
