Bryce's POV:
Juli and I waved to grandpa goodbye before we pedalled to the mall.
We parked our bicycles and locked it with our own locks to the park rack.
We went inside and headed straight for the Retro Café. A classic styled café which had the best delectable coffee blends. The lights were cozily dim lit, the era hits different and the aroma is just heavenly. Even just by stepping into the café, you already can breathe in the smell of coffee.
A lot may not know but I'm a sucker for coffee. It's aroma alone brings relaxation. My favourite though is either the S'mores Frappuccino or Mocha, if not pure coffee.
Probably inherited my love for it from my parents. They'd have it for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Mainly, anytime of the day.
We saw Daven and Dana sitting on a four-sitter table, not too wide. They were sitting across from each other. If Juli sat beside Dana and I beside Daven, it looked like we were in a double date.
"Hey guys!" Juli said as we approached them.
"Ey, what's good?" said Daven, holding up his palm expecting a high five from Juli.
She slammed it before giving Dana a side hug.
Dana gestured for Juli to sit next to her.
I pulled her chair for her as she sat.
"Thanks," she blushed.
I smiled back at her.
"So, what will you guys be shopping for?" Juli asked.
"I got a girl. She wants a red spiral notebook. Easy. We can spend the remaining time in the arcade," said Daven, full of enthusiasm.
"Chill, Daven! We haven't even shopped yet," she turned back to us and continued, "Mine's a girl too. She wants a..." Dana took a piece of paper from her pocket, straightened it and said, "Calligraphy set."
"Bryce and I still have to shop somewhere else. His pick wants a lip gloss. Mine wants a half-finger Bike glove or whatever that is," said Juli.
"So are we splitting in two groups?" Daven asked.
"How 'bout we just all go. Y'know, together. We have the whole entire rest of the day anyway," I suggested.
"Great!" said Juli.
"Now, what do you girls want?" I asked so we could all order once. "Daven and I will get them for you."
"I'll take a caramel macchiato," Dana said and dug in her bag for her wallet.
"You babe?" I turned to Juli.
"You choose. I know you have good taste for them. Surprise me," she smiled and reached in her bag too.
"Oh, don't worry. I got you covered, babe," I didn't mind paying for hers too. It's what boyfriends do anyway. Plus, I have allowance money saved up for Juli. Only her.
I used to save my allowances for new shoes, clothes or new gaming gadgets. My dad's quite the business man and has really good pay. We didn't have to worry about anything. Lyn's and my future was secured in a bank. This time, I intend to use my pocket money as Juli's boyfriend.
I smiled at her and swung my arm over Daven's shoulder and headed for the counter before she could even hand me any money.
"Guys! You didn't take my money yet!" called Dana from behind the table. We looked back and saw her waving 10 bucks up.
"Gotcha, Tressler!" Daven said as he gave her a flirtatious smile.
"Ooohhh... Okay, Daven in the game!" I said giving him a high five. He chuckled. "Could it possibly be that Daven Dennington has taken a liking to a girl?" I acted shock and in disbelief.
