Bryce's POV:
I was holding the Trophy up high, my teammates hoisted me on their shoulders. I saw the whole bleachers of Mayfield students running to the field joining in the cheering of the Lions and cheerleaders. They looked up to me. I felt like the star of the show. We won the game after all.
That was all well and good but right after they brought me down, I felt the sharp pain on my leg which was bruised by Alex Collins. He threw the ball real hard and onto the spot where I didn't have armour on. He could've aimed at my body because we wore an armour underneath our jerseys. It had to be my leg. I knew he did it on purpose.
He had a grin before the throw and he positioned himself to throw low. Oh, I know because I've been training all my life. I know the moves. It was intentional.
It was a good thing Juli was there because when they brought me down, they seem to have forgotten about my leg like I did. I put pressure on it and now it stings. I held Juli's shoulder as her arm made her way to my back and held my side to support me. I gave the trophy to coach and we went back to the tent. He told me to rest before the celebration.
The Bears? Oh, they get to go to the party too. Win or lose, they have the right to celebrate. It would be held in the field later after 3 hours. They had to decorate the field though they already started a little. All they had to do was put led disco lights throughout the field and set up tables of food sponsored by the East Union High. The party would be lit. Juli and I were looking forward to it.
After a good fifteen minute rest, I told Juli I'd take a quick shower.
"Stay here okay? I'll just hit the showers and I'll be out in ten, okay?"
"Okay, I'll be waiting," she smiled.
"Love you," I blew a kiss before heading to the showers.
In the locker rooms, the whole team patted my shoulder saying, 'Good job' or 'Nice game, Cap!'
I limped to my locker to get my shampoo, and body wash and my clothes to change in.
I hit the shower heads and cleaned myself up. I got really sweaty so I soaped myself around three times.
As for the gauze pad, it was waterproof so I didn't have anything to worry about. Still hurts though.
Juli's POV:
Bryce said he'd take 10 minutes but already 15 minutes had passed. Maybe he wanted to clean himself up real good. I waited patiently in the tent and saw the Student Body Organization setting the place up. They had lots of large speakers set up all over the place for all around sound system. Also packed with moving led laser lights tied up on the field light poles. It'll look better in the night and I was excited to see the whole field full of partying students. I scanned the whole field to look at more decorations but my eyes landed on Alex's. He was sitting on the bleacher, with wet hair. I guessed he just got out of the showers.
I was not ready for what happened next. After looking at me for a minute, he got up, and made his way to where I was. I didn't want to see or talk to him. If he hit Bryce on purpose then he's not that good of a person.
"Hey," he said softly.
I ignored him and looked at the students setting up the long tables and imagined all the food was to be on them.
"Look, you might think I did that on purpose. Well, I didn't. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hit that low," he looked sympathetic.
Huh. I'm guessing you didn't mean to show a grin too, didn't you? I couldn't bring myself to say that because I thought it was completely harsh.
