Juli's POV:

Today's the day! It's Thursday and marks the day of our Christmas Party, and tomorrow, the Year End Party. We usually celebrate Christmas Parties in school before December 25th, the actual day because on the 25th, we would celebrate with our families and friends.

Yesterday, we were told that the party would start at 12 in the afternoon onwards because they still had to do preparations. We were told to have lunch there as there would be a buffet. We were allowed to go early to set the food we bring, prior to it being a potluck.

I woke up later than usual since there wasn't anything planned in the morning. I woke up to my parents hurriedly bidding me good bye because they too had a Christmas Party in their workplaces and figured to just car pool.

They kissed me good bye while I still laid on my bed, only half awake. They told me that my brothers were gone too since their school Christmas Party was held in the morning. They reminded me to lock up before I left and later on, I heard the front door shut.

I rubbed my eyes and looked over at my alarm clock sitting on the night stand. Gosh, I really slept in. It was already 8:30. Sure that may still seem early but in my family, it's not. Our usual wake up time was 5:30 in the morning.

I got out of bed, slipped on my bedroom slippers and proceeded to arrange my bed.

I hopped into the showers and cleaned myself up. I got changed in sweats first, soon after my bath. I blew my hair dry with the hair blower before setting up the pan on the stove so I could make breakfast, when I heard a knock on the front door. I opened it to find Bryce standing there. By that time, it was already 9:15.

"Good morning, sunshine!" he greeted cheerfully.

"Good morning. What are you doing here so early?" I asked.

"Well, I saw your parents left early so I decided to spend my morning here instead," he said as he let himself in and shut the door behind him. "It's boring in the house. Dad brought mom to his office Christmas Party, Lyn had hers in school and grandpa said that he had a reunion with his folks outside of town so I'm practically alone. I suppose you are too."

"Yup, same goes to my family. Well, have you eaten? I was just going to make breakfast," I pointed to the kitchen.

"Ooh, yes please. What'cha makin'?"

"French toast."

"Cool. Let me help."

Bryce helped me with breakfast. It was surprisingly good especially since I've never been one to cook.

We ate breakfast together in the dining area, talking about random stuff.

After our meal was done, Bryce offered to wash the plates. I wiped the table clean and returned the ingredients we used.

"So, what does Juli Baker do in the morning?" he asked as he rested his chin on his hand, his elbow on the high counter.

"Well if you're so interested, I feed my chickens and then water my sycamore tree."

"You're sycamore tree? C'mon, it's ours." he persuaded.

I water the sycamore tree twice a day in order to keep it healthy. In a research I found in the library, it says that the sycamore plant can grow in almost any soil but they prefer a deep, rich one that is well drained and moist. To keep it healthy, it's preferable to fertilize it every other year. I usually soak it so it reaches the roots and would grow faster but not too much since I don't want it to be over-hydrated. Just the right amount to keep it healthy.
