Waking up on the hard concrete ground, Stacey stretched her limbs. She missed her bed and her soft foam mattress. Stacey was in so much pain and very uncomfortable due to the hard ground. The sun was beaming down on her brown skin making her scrunch up her beautiful face. She couldn't believe this was the life she was now living. She was now homeless and had nobody but herself and her baby.
Even though this was her first time sleeping on the streets, she didn't like it at all and her baby definitely didn't like the discomfort of the hard concrete gravel which was why Stacey was up now because her baby keep moving and kicking. Letting Stacey know that her unborn child hated this situation just like her.
Getting up Stacey noticed that she still had the blanket that Lisa gave her but her one small duffle bag was missing. "This can't be fucking real," Stacey cussed.
Searching around her, it wasn't too many places she could look to know that somebody had stolen her damn duffle bag with the little amount of clothes that she had left. Feeling her body for her book bag she was thankful that it was still attached to her body.
Stacey was upset that somebody had the audacity to steal her bag making her get up and search the women who were still laying on the ground asleep.
She made sure to try and check every woman that laid on the ground. "Have you seen my duffel bag," Stacey whispered to the women who were up but they only looked at her and shooed her away. She figured her bag and clothes were probably long gone because it wasn't many women outside laying down like it was last night.
As much as she wanted to cry, she was glad that the bag that was stolen only had a little item of clothing and not the phone her best friend gave her.
"All that moving and talking you doing, is waking everybody up," Lisa huffed. She enjoyed her sleep and hated when folks broke it or woke her up. Even though it was already morning most women still sleep in.
"I'm sorry. Somebody stole my damn bag." Stacey sighed. She wasn't mad because the bag didn't have anything valuable in it but it was the principal of the situation. Everybody was struggling out here and for somebody to steal some shit that was in her possession pissed her off.
"I told you to keep your bag on your back. These folks out here ruthless." Lisa stated truthfully. She had been on the streets for so long that she had literally witnessed everything that you could witness on the streets.
Death, rape, stealing, prostitution literally any and everything.
She had become accustomed to how wicked the streets were. She use to be one of those people. Steal any and everything from anybody.
And these streets were known for turning people into thieves quick. I mean that was the only way to survive on these streets. And make sure you live to see the next day. You had to steal from the next person to make a way for yourself.
Nobody cared who you were and what you have going on. They were looking out for them and you had to look out for you. It was every man for themselves.
"I did sleep with a book bag on my back. How the fuck was the duffle bag going to go on my back." Stacey spoke.
"No need to get rude with me, just remember anything you want to keep you better make sure your holding on to it with your life because these people out here don't give no fuck about you." Lisa lectured.
"That shit lame and pathetic. But its ok if I see somebody with my shit on I'm gone whoop they ass for stealing from me." Stacey sighed. She knew she was just talking out her ass because she was upset. Stacey didn't know how to fight at all and she knew she wasn't gone put her baby in harm's way over some clothes that could be replaced.
