"Ready?"

"Ready." Eddie confirmed. Today was June 1st, and to kick off pride month, Eddie and Richie decided they wanted to go to a pride parade.

"Ok, come out then!" Eddie had been in the bathroom for a long time, getting ready to march. Richie had thrown on an "It Gets Better" t-shirt and jeans, and was planning on draping his bi flag over his shoulders. Eddie, on the other hand, wanted to go all out.

"Ok..." The shorter boy stepped out of the bathroom, revealing himself to Richie. The curly-haired boy's jaw dropped. Eddie was dressed in a rainbow top, with his red short shorts. His socks were also rainbow, and pulled up to his knees. His hair had small clip-on bows (which were also rainbow). And a tiny painted rainbow sat on the bridge of his nose, which was so adorably Eddie. The smaller boy was flushed red, self-consciously shrinking in on himself.

"Richie?" He asked. "Is... is it too much? Should I go change?"

"No! No, Eddie baby, you look incredible," Richie assured. A relieved smile crossed the smaller boy's face as he draped his rainbow flag over his shoulders. Richie planted a kiss on Eddie's forehead, a smile on his face. "Now, let's go! I've got a surprise for you," he teased.

"Ooh, ooh, what is it?" The younger boy asked excitedly. Richie's smile just grew, leading Eddie outside to the car.

"If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise, now would it?" Eddie scrunched up his nose, wrinkling the tiny painted rainbow. "You'll see when we get there."

"Fine," Eddie sighed. He could barely contain his excitement. It was Eddie's first ever pride parade, after being out for 3 whole years. Richie had gone before, back when he was 16. Now he was 23, and Eddie was 22. They lived together in Bangor, just outside of Derry. Their life together was perfect in every way, both in and out of bed. The two of them were in love, the most pure love there was.

"Are we there yet?" Eddie questioned, drumming his fingers against his leg. Richie chuckled at his boyfriend's antsy behavior, remembering how excited he had been for his first pride parade.

"Almost, Eds, just hold on." The smaller boy hummed, staring out the window with wide eyes. He could see a sea of colors nearby, and he knew they must be close. As they got closer, Eddie could make out some of the flags in the crowd. Gay, bi, lesbian, pan, ace, trans, non binary, they were all there. Richie parked the car, both of them hopping out excitedly.

"Follow me, Eds," Richie beckoned, leading the smaller boy through streets of rainbow. "Close your eyes!" Eddie did as told, squeezing his eyes shut. "Ok, open!"

"SURPRISE!" Eddie gasped. There before him stood the losers, all decked out in pride gear. Bev and Bill with their bi flags, Ben with his pan flag, Stan with his gay flag, and Mike with his ace flag. Eddie squealed with astonishment, running into a big group hug.

"Happy first pride, Eddie," Stan congratulated. Eddie had the biggest grin on his face, his smile stretching from ear to ear.

"You guys," he cried in disbelief. "You're here!"

"Of course we are, we wouldn't miss this for the world!" Bev insisted. "Now, why don't we go march? Oh, and Eddie? Watch your drink."

"I don't have a dri-" Bev handed him a coke, cautioning him.

"I'M GAY, MOTHERFUCKERS!" Richie screamed, dragging Eddie into the sea of color. Eddie giggled as he was pulled through the crowd, his boyfriend leading him to the middle. "Guess what Eds, there's ANOTHER surprise today!" And with that, the curly-haired boy dropped to one knee, pulling a small velvet case from his pocket. Eddie gasped, his hands flying to his mouth.

"Edward Kaspbrak, I love you. I've loved you ever since we were 15. And, I guess what I'm trying to say is... will you marry me?" By now, they had attracted the attention of a bunch of other marchers.

"YES!" Eddie exclaimed, letting Richie slip the ring onto his finger. He held his hand up to his face to get a good look at it. The ring was silver, but in the light it looked like a rainbow. "I love it. I love you," Eddie sniffled, happy tears streaming down his face. He leaned in to kiss his fiancé, hearing the loud cheers all around them as they locked lips. Behind them, the rest of the losers stood, huge grins on all 5 of their faces.

"It's about time," Stan remarked. "Those two were practically made for each other." The rest of the losers nodded, eyes on the newly engaged couple. Eddie and Richie broke this kiss, giddily staring into each other's eyes.

"I love you," they said in unison.
