Phoenix's pov
*6 days later*
Tired. That's really all my body can process. The lack of sleep and amount of hours I had to spend at working is more than I'm really used to. So fatigue has hit me very hard.
I hear a light knock on the door and I turn my head to watch Demi walk into the room, "Hey Phoenix, my family is coming over in about ten minutes and would really like to meet you. Do you think you can maybe come say hi?" She asks.
I can't tell her no. I have to do as she says and asks. She's sort of my boss at the moment, I can't do anything that'll upset her if I don't want to get in trouble or hurt. So despite me not wanting to do this, I have to.
"Yes ma'am."
In the corner of my eye, I see her give a small smile, "Thank you Phoenix."
"You're welcome." I say quietly.
I get out of the bed and tiredly follow behind her to the living room, "Are you hungry?" She asks.
"No ma'am."
I've been here for a week and eating in front of her isn't any easier. I still can only do it when she's not looking or watching.
I stand uncomfortable in the living room not really sure what to do as she takes a seat on the couch, "You can take a seat on the couch."
I do as I'm told and stare down at the floor as I hear a knock on the door. I turn my head and watch Demi walk to the front door. She opens the front door and 4 people walk in. 3 adults and a teenager who looks about my age.
"Is that her?" I hear as I stare at the floor.
"Yes, this is Phoenix and she's 14. She'll open for Nick and I on the tour." Demi says.
I turn my head to Demi once my brain registers she was speaking and she gives me a small smile, "Phoenix the youngest one person is Madison, my little sister. Behind her is Dallas, who's my older sister. Then that's my mom and dad in the back." She says.
I turn my head and give a small wave, "Hi." I say quietly.
I look back down at the floor to avoid eye contact as usual, "So are you excited Phoenix?" I hear the excited voice of Demi's mom ask.
"Yes Ma'am."
"We've had rehearsals all week and things are definitely ready." Demi says.
"That's exciting, I can't wait to see you two at a few shows on tour!" Dallas squeals.
In the corner of my eye I can see Demi almost look a bit annoyed with the statement, it definitely sparks curiosity in me. I wonder why she doesn't want Dallas to come to her show? Sure Dallas sort of invited herself, but they are sisters, shouldn't they be close? I know in an only child and may not understand how sibling bonds work, but I can assure you if I had a younger sibling, I'd be very protective and close with it. I'd always take the abuse for it and do my best to protect it. As well as do my best to be the best older sibling I could be.
So seeing the reaction I've just seen has me wondering what caused it. Is Demi just a band person and I should keep my guard up? Or did Dallas fail her as an older sister? Did she not protect Demi? Or are they just not close and haven't ever been?
"I really like your covers on YouTube." A voice says.
I turn my head to see Madison staring at me which of course gives me some anxiety, "Oh, uh, thank you." I say a bit taken off guard.
Has Demi's entire family seen my YouTube channel? Or just just a few family members? And how many videos of mine have they seen?
"Your cover of secrets is my favorite." She says.
