— THE VOICE OF A CHILD ECHOES through the cold night as she wonders what was falling from the sky. The child had awakened laying on a bed of cherry blossoms, surrounded by crystal snowflakes with no memories of who she was or where she was. The child foolishly walked into the unknown - unsuspecting of the beings that lived in the shadows.
"Where does it come from?" She tilted her head up and saw multiple snowflakes falling, forming the snow she was walking on.
The child wondered and looked down at her outfit. She had a light pink winter coat with black tights and calf-length white winter boots. Her hands were covered with white mittens and she felt something on her head.
"Have I been abandoned?"
She wasn't sure why but her last question made her heartache at the possibility of being abandoned. There was no indication of why she was alone nor any memories that could help her.
Did she love them?
Did they love her?
A drop fell onto her mittens, starling the girl. She felt something small and wet slide down her face, causing her to move her hand up towards her eyes. "Am I crying over a family I don't remember?"
She heard the sound of crunching get close to her, someone was walking towards her. She looked up at the person with huge doe-eyes.
"Child, you got lost," A raspy voice stated. "And I've been searching for a long time,"
"Searching?" She innocently asked, staring at him with curiosity in her eyes - unaware of the true being of the person in front of her.
"Well child, for a good meal. Let me bite your neck," He sadistic grinned, his eyes glowing a crimson red and his canine growing into an inhuman length and sharp like a knife. The child gasped in horror and stumbled back trying to get away from the inhuman being in front of her. He gripped her forearm and pulled her towards him
"No! Let me go!" She cried, trying to move away from the man. "Please!"
The child tried everything she could to get away from the man but she was small compared to him, giving him an advantage. She fell back and landed on the snow, the man towering over her ready to bite her. He turned her head, exposing the carotid artery that was pulsing with blood from her struggles.
SPLATTER
She saw a boy appear out of nowhere and push his hand through the man's head, making the monster's blood stain the pure snow and the mysterious boy's clothing. The body of the man distorted into dust and his clothes were blown away with the wind. She stood up on shaking legs, not moving her eyes from the boy who killed whatever the thing was that tried to kill her.
"They are a disgrace to the vampire race," he said, staring at the child with gentle eyes. The child looked behind her, feeling someone approaching her, and saw an older girl. The girl had a relieved expression on her face, noticing the child was unharmed, just frightened by the event.
"I was worried we would be too late," She said, kneeling in front of the child and staring into her sherbet pink eyes, but directing her statement to the boy. She cuddled the child into her arms, holding her tightly, thinking about what would have happened if her partner hadn't arrived in time.
"Thankfully we weren't Yuki," The male answered, watching as Yuki ran her hand through the girl's lavender hair. He kneeled behind the child and pulled both of them into a hug - the child in between them. The girl did nothing. She didn't hug back nor did she fight against the strangers' hug. She just allowed herself to be hugged like a motionless doll.
"We will always protect you, our beloved princess,"
