— ZERO'S HEAD WAS BOWED as he sat at the edge of his bed and by his side a packed bag. He was ready to leave Cross Academy. In his fist was a photo of Mio and him, tightly clenched. It was taken by the Headmaster on their first day of high school. Mio was hugging an irritable Zero with a radiant grin.

"We made it, Roro! We are official high school students, smile."

"It hasn't begun and I already regret it."

He had made a promise. He made it his responsibility to make sure she would be happy, to live a carefree life, and not worry about the monster in the shadows. He would fight the monster from the world of darkness so she could live happily in the world of light. So one day she could meet the love of her life, grow old, and have children. The white picket fence dream.

His right hand, the Bloody Rose was loosely gripped. 

How could he face Mio again? 

She hates him. Every time she looks at him, she will think of him as the Level E who bit her and has the potential of killing her, like the one in her first memory. He will no longer be a friend or even a brother figure in her life. 

He had ruined it all. 

He had ruined their relationship.

It would be better without him.

She wouldn't live her life in fear, knowing she was near a monster. The monster who almost took her life.

Yes, it would be better.

His right hand went up, raising the Bloody Rose to his right hemisphere. Taking off the safety, he closed his eyes and placed his fingers on the trigger.

The sound of hurried footsteps echoed through the dark corridors of the boys' Sun Dorms. Quick on their legs, you assumed it was your imagination. Said figure had one destination in mind, listening to their gut feeling.

Sherbet pinks orbs were wide in horror. Zero was holding the Bloody Rose to his head. Her heart wasn't beating from adrenaline. Now it was beating out of desperation, to stop Zero. Her body reacted quicker than her mind and she threw her body on top of Zero's, distracting him.

Zero gripped her wrist and flipped them over, his body pinning her to the bed. He gripped both her wrist above her head and his knees symmetric with her hips. 

"You heard, didn't you? Your blood being sucked out?" Mio pursed her lips, nodding her head. She couldn't disagree with him. She can still remember the slurping. He let go of her wrists and slowly trailed his hand to her neck. Using his nails, he ripped off the bandage causing Mio to slightly hiss.

Silver eyes narrowed down at the sight of the bite marks. They were easily distinguished on her beige skin. "I couldn't stop and . . . you didn't fight back. You're capable of stopping me. We both know you have a concealed dagger in your thigh highs."

"I said I would use it when I felt it was necessary,"

"It was necessary Mio! I could have killed you!"
