"How much for the tulips?" Connor asked the lady.
"50 po isa, sir" the lady smiled.
"Okay. I'll take a dozen. Ipa-bouquet mo na miss. Thank you" Connor said as he handed the lady a thousand peso bill.
"Okay sir, pakiantay nalang po" the lady handed him his change and went back to fix his order.
As Connor said to Mary, he will be waiting for her in case she changed her mind. That doesn't mean that he can't send her gifts, can't he?
He was going to deliver the bouquet of tulips to Mary later because tulips were her favorite. He remembered when they were still together, he gave her a tulip every day when he met with her. She would turn a beet red color and reward him with a kiss to the cheeks to which he would grin.
He missed those times. If he hadn't cheated, maybe he was the lucky guy who Mary was engaged to right now.
Why had he done it then? He remembered being in a party, being dragged to a room, and then suddenly, Mary was at the door staring wide at him as a woman was jumping on his privates.
It was all so sudden, their breakup. She threw all his letter at his face and burned all his gifts in their backyard. He remembered how he ignored her after their breakup because of his new woman, but quickly got bored of the latter.
He came back, full blown on crying how he wanted her back and that he couldn't find anyone like her. But she wouldn't budge. It was her time to ignore him now.
Since then, he chased after her, even after she met Leo. And now, even though she was already engaged to him.
But they weren't married yet, right? He still has a chance.
The lady went back to the counter and gave him his order. He thanked her as he went out the door and started walking to his car.
Unknown by Connor, a stranger wearing a black jacket and a black face mask was following behind him. The masked stranger was keeping a good distance to where Connor is and blended in the crowd so that the stranger wasn't noticeable.
When Connor turned into a dark alley where no one was in sight, the stranger acted fast.
Connor was held by the shoulders and was dragged in a corner where no one would see.
He shouted in surprise when something hit him on the back of his head and fell unto the gravel. The tulips he was holding scattered on the ground while the masked stranger stepped on one. It crushed under his boots which made Connor look up.
The masked stranger was carrying a baseball bat in his hands while glaring at Connor who was crawling away on the ground.
When Connor felt something wet on the back of his head, he reached out and winced when his head hurt. He pulled back to see red dark blood stained his hand. It must have been from when the stranger hit him in the back.
With that thought, he started his pleas for help. Though it was a dark alley and no one heard him, he still tried.
"Help! Someone please!" he shouted while the masked stranger smirked inside his mask.
His voice rasped when he felt the stranger brought down the bat unto his back. He growled in pain when it moved to his legs.
He can already feel his bones in his legs breaking. He can't crawl anymore. He was too weak.
"T-Tulong! Argh!" he winced when the stranger stepped on his hand on the pavement.
The masked person leaned down unto the back of his head and whispered something that only he can hear.
