"What do you want to tell me?" Arman asked Marco through the phone.
For several minutes, Arman listened quietly as Marco started talking. His eyes would bulge out from shock and anger from the information he was receiving. He couldn't believe that this was all true. Though it all makes sense.
Unbeknowest to Arman, someone else was listening to their conversation.
A figure stood behind Arman as he kept listening to Marco's words.
The figure was wearing a simple white shirt and black pants. Yet today, he wasn't wearing any mask on his face.
As Arman scrunched his fists in anger, he didn't notice the person getting a frying pan from the cupboards. With pending force, he brought down the pan unto Arman's head.
His phone fell from his hand as Arman touched his head in pain. The figure picked up Arman's phone and muttered something to Marco before ending the call.
After putting Arman's phone on top of the table, he set his eyes unto Arman's form on the floor. The bruise from the back of his head where the pan hit was starting to form a violet color. It was very visible because Arman had thin hair.
He turned Arman over so he was facing him now. Arman was still groaning in pain but when he opened his eyes to gaze upon his assaulter, he growled angrily.
"So it's true" Arman muttered angrily.
The figure only smirked at Arman before lifting the prying on his hands once again and continued beating other parts of his body with it.
"Wow. Bongga na ah, Mary" Sean smirked at Mary as she shook her head while laughing.
"Ganiyan talaga pag favorite eh noh? Naka leave kahit na hindi naman buntis" Rhea teased at Mary to which she only laughed at.
Mary was at the hospital where she worked at. It was a couple miles farther from where Marco was hospitalized. Her mother referred her to her friend who owned this hospital, so this is where she continued to work after she graduated.
When Sheryl invited her friend to Mary's wedding, she immediately gifted Mary a work leave until her honeymoon. Mary refused but the owner of the hospital was stubborn, so she gave in. This gave her a lot of free time to plan their wedding without being stressed at work.
"Tumigil nga kayo, hindi naman ako yung nanghingi ng leave eh. Siya mismo ang nag alok sa akin" Mary referred to the hospital owner.
"Sana all pa din" Sean sighed.
Sean and Rhea were Mary's doctor friends. They were a trio since college. They started looking for work immediately after graduating. Thanks to Sheryl, they opened up a slot for the trio in this hospital. They were thankful for the push of course, but they were good doctors. They made it up by their skills.
"Wala ba kayong shift?" Mary raised her eyebrows at them.
"Break namin, ghorl. Pwede tayo mag chikahan ngayon" Sean rolled his eyes as he sat across from Mary while Rhea sat beside her.
"So, how's the wedding plan going?" Rhea asked Mary.
"Stressful. Tinutulungan ako ni Rose minsan kaso wala siya ngayon eh" Mary muttered.
"Kasi naman, kung binigyan rin kami ng leave ni Madam President, edi tinulungan ka na namin sa pagplaplano mo" Sean said sarcastically as Mary laughed.
"Okay lang, mom is helping me too naman" Mary mentioned.
"Gusto lang makisama ni Sean kasi gusto niyang makita yung boylet mo" Rhea smirked at Sean.
"Oh? Ano naman ngayon? Eh hindi ko naman mapipigilan ang mata ko kung yumminess talaga si papa Leo" Sean snarked at Rhea.
"Papa Leo daw oh Mary" Rhea playfully told Mary as if she was a child telling her mother.
"Well, papa naman talaga si Leo. Pero papa ko lang iyon, hanap ka ng sa'yo, wag kang aagaw" Mary smirked at Sean.
"Excuse moi? I have a long line of suitors if you must know. Kung gusto mo bigyan pa kita incase panis na si Leo mo" Sean rolled his eyes.
"Hinding hindi iyon mapapanis. Itsura pa lang, ulam na" Rhea retorted for Mary.
They all laughed as the conversation kept going.
Ten minutes only passed by when Mary's phone started blaring. She excused herself from her friends and saw that it was his father's friend who was calling her.
"Yes, tito?" she greeted.
"Hello hija. Nandiyan ka ba sa bahay niyo?" he asked Mary.
"Wala po tito. Nasa hospital po ako ngayon eh, visiting my friends. Bakit po?" she tilted her head.
"Kasi Arman and I was supposed to meet today.
"Sige hija, salamat" he said before he ended the call.
Mary turned to Sean and Rhea to say her goodbyes before driving home. She kept calling her dad but he wasn't answering his phone either, so she just kept driving.
Arriving at the farm house twenty minutes later, she saw that her father's car was still parked in the garage.
Walking to the door, she smiled teasingly. Once inside, she called for her dad. No one answered. She checked his room but he wasn't there.
"Dad nandyan ka ba?" Mary announced as she walked to the kitchen.
"Hinahanap ka ni uncle Renato. Magkikita daw dapat kayo ngayon kaso di ka sumipot. I told him maybe you had dia-" her words were cut off when she entered the kitchen.
On the floor, Arman layed completely still, bloody and bruised. His phone was on the kitchen counter but the screen was cracked.
Mary immediately crouched near her father and checked his pulse with trembling hands. He was still alive, but only just. His pulse was weak and barely noticeable which made Mary cry.
"D-Dad. W-ake up please. Fuck, what happened to you?" Mary sobbed as she hugged his body to her own.
When she turned his head, she saw that it was bruised and was a very visible violet. Different parts of his body were also bruised and a few wounds littered his skin.
As Mary called an ambulance, she saw her mother's prying pan on the table near his broken phone and put it back on the cupboard.
Since when did her dad cooked? Mary thought as she watched the ambulance carry her father to the hospital.
She quickly followed with her car while calling Leo. He answered on the third ring.
"Hey, love. Nasa hospital ka pa ba? I'm on-" Mary cut Leo off with her sobs.
"L-love. Si dad" she hiccupped.
"Why? Anong nangyari kay dad?!" Leo asked worriedly through the phone.
"I d-don't know. Umuwi u-uli ako sa bahay tapos nadatnan ko s-siyang naka handusay sa sahig" Mary cried.
"Fuck! Okay, love. Didiretso na ako sa hospital, I'll wait for you there, okay?" Leo directed at her.
"Okay, okay. I'll see you" Mary ended her phone as she sobbed once again.
