Chapter 18

"May nakakita daw sa kaniya sa Baguio pero hinanap na namin siya doon at natagpuan namin ang tinirahan niya, kaso sabi nung caretaker umalis na daw siya nung kinaumagahan, Mr. De Valencia" the police officer talked to Leo as Mary watched their interaction.

"Okay. Thank you for informing me" Leo sighed as the officer nodded his head and went out of the door.

"You're still looking for Marco?" Mary murmured at Leo which caused him to look at her.

"Love, Inaantay siya ni Aling Emily sa bahay nila at tsaka ngayon nalang sila nagkita after 10 years. Ngayon pa siya mawawala? Eh ang tanda na ng nanay niya, wala nang mag-aalaga dun" Leo mumbled while thinking.

"Okay, I see your point" Mary sighed as she sat beside him in his hospital bed.

"Pero hinahanap mo ba siya kasi gusto mo talaga siyang ibalik sa nanay niya, o gusto mo ulit siyang ibalik sa kulungan dahil sa ginawa niya sa tita mo?" Mary raised her brows at him.

"I don't know yet, love. Hindi pa proven kung siya nga ba ang gumawa nun pero siya lang naman talaga ang may motive. I just don't want to talk about that right now Mary" Leo ended their conversation as he looked at his lap.

A knock sounded at the door before Sean and Rhea entered the room. Mary smiled at her friends as they neared the bed.

"Okay, Leo. It says here in your stats na pwede ka na daw makalabas 2 days after today. You're healing remarkably well and your wounds are closing up, so you're free to go by Thursday." Sean informed the couple.

"Thanks, Sean" Mary smiled at her friend.

"Of course, anything for papa Leo" Sean smirked playfully which made Mary roll her eyes.

"Baks, may gwapong pasyente daw doon sa room 37B" Rhea said.

Sean's eyes immediately widened with glee at the news as he hurriedly said goodbye to the couple and Rhea before running out the door.

"So, kailan itutuloy ang wedding?" Rhea asked the couple.

"We don't know yet. Marami pa kasing problema as of now, with dad still in a coma, Marco's search, and a possible unidentified killer, mukhang matatagalan pa" Mary breathed out.

"Well, I hope you guys can get through it. Just remain strong for each other, okay?" Rhea raised her brows as Mary nodded.

"Well, I got a patient to rescue from Sean's paws. See you guys later, Good luck on the recovery Leo!" Rhea bidded before walking out the door as Leo shouted a thank you.

Mary was on the cafeteria of the hospital, getting a tray of food for Leo. She was deciding whether to get the avocado salad or the vegan salad when a figure bumped against her. Her purse and phone fell as the woman who wore a black hoodie muttered a quick sorry but didn't stop walking.

Mary went to pick up her things when she realized something. She recognized that voice.

Leo's food was long forgotten as Mary chased the woman. The woman kept walking fast until they reached the empty parking lot. The woman suddenly turned around and pointed a gun towards Mary who stopped in her tracks.

"D-Diyan ka lang" Grace trembled.

"Bakit mo ito ginagawa? Sino ka ba?" Mary retorted.

Grace's hollowed eyes stared at Mary as her hands gripped her gun tighter. Mary was clutching her purse as she waited for Grace to speak.

"Ikaw ba yung pumapatay? Kay Connor? Kay Rose?" Mary asked.

At her question, Grace laughed while she shook her head. Mary mentally face palmed herself. She gave Jorge and Ray a day off because they were with her 24/7. She didn't know this would happen today. Of all the times...

"Y-You still don't get it do you?!" Grace laughed crazily.

"What do you mean?" Mary raised her brows.

"You know, noong kami pa ni Leo, he didn't treat me the way he did to you" Grace whispered harshly as tears fell on her cheeks.

"E-Ex mo si Leo?" Mary gaped while Grace nodded solemnly.

"Y-You're jealous because w-we're engaged. That's why you're targeting me and-" Grace cut off Mary when she shot at the floor besides Mary. The latter squeeked at the gun's sound.

"You stupid bitch! I'm not jealous! Sayong sayo na si Leo and I don't plan on taking him back after what he did to me ten years ago!" Grace shouted at Mary.

"A-Anong sinasabi mo? What did Leo d-do to you?" Mary trembled.

"Oh. So he didn't tell you how he abused me in our relationship back then?" Grace smirked sarcastically.

"H-He abused you?" Mary gasped as her eyes widened.

"Yes, Mary! Your Leo abused me! If it weren't for him, naging normal sana ang buhay ko. I could've chased my dreams, but he stopped me!" Grace cried.

Mary mentally fixed the information in her head when Grace said they were together ten years ago, the same time Leo was on drug use and his parents were killed by Marco.

"H-He didn't mean it, Grace. He was on drugs back then. H-he is sober now Grace, he wasn't the same man you knew back then" Mary pleaded as she slowly inched towards Grace.

"Sober or not, sinira niya ang buhay ko!" Grace trembled as she lost her grip on her gun. She didn't notice that Mary was just a foot away from her right now.

"But that won't matter anymore, because any second now, Leo would be dead" Grace smiled to herself which made Mary stop.

"W-what are you saying?" Mary feared for Grace's answer.

"At this very second, Marco is on his way to Leo's room to kill him, and nobody would help that son of a-" Grace was cut off when Mary grappled for the gun in her gun.

The two woman's screams were heard as they fought each other on the parking lot. Mary was close to snatching the gun away from Grace's hands when a gunshot rang in the air. They stopped their movements as Mary fell back from Grace and fell to the floor grasping her now bleeding shoulder.

Grace's eyes widened when she saw Mary's blood. She dropped her gun to her side as she squatted down to Mary's side.

"I-I'm sorry. T-That wasn't supposed to happen. Marco s-said to k-keep you h-here but don't s-shoot you. Fuck! I'm s-so sorry" Grace panicked as she pressed her hands against Mary's wound.

When Mary saw the gun lying on the ground besides Grace, she immediately snatched it with her right hand and straddled Grace's waist as she fell to the ground.

Still fighting, Grace scratched at Mary's face as they tried to reach for each other. Grace kicked her legs and rolled them around again. Now, she was the one straddling Mary.

"I tried to be nice to you, pero makulit ka talaga noh?" Grace growled as the gun went between their stomach.

A gunshot was heard once again. The two women stopped their fighting.

Mary felt the gunshot wound on her shoulders but no new wounds opened.

She pushed Grace's form off of her body and saw that Grace had a bleeding chest. Red dark blood was falling from her mouth as she wheezed in pain. Through the pain, Mary stood up and kicked the gun away from them and held her shoulders in pain as she snatched her purse from and rode the elevator. When the guard saw her, his eye's immediately widened at Mary's bloody shoulders.

"D-Doctor Garcia! Anong nangyari sa inyo!" The guard tried to assist Mary but she stopped him with her bloody hands.

"M-Manong. May patay na katawan sa parking lot, puntahan mo na at tumawag ka ng ibang security, papuntahin mo sa room 24B please" Mary managed out before running to the stairs all bloody and in pain.

The guard brought out his walkey talkey as he ran towards the parking lot.

"Attention. Emergency. Other units, go to the parking lot, may patay daw doon. Yung iba pumunta sa room 24B, ASAP!"
