Chapter 15

"Wake up, Mary" a deep voice murmured in her ear.

"I said-" the voice continued when she only moaned in pain.

"WAKE UP!" at his shout, Mary's eyes widened when they opened and her body gasped in pain from the floor.

Mary looked around her and saw she was on the kitchen floor of their farm house. Her arms were tied behind her back and a figure stood above her shaking form. When she looked up, she saw a man's face gazing at her in adoration.

"You're so beautiful" the man murmured as he kept staring at Mary's face.

"W-why are you doing t-this?" she trembled.

"You still don't get it?" He laughed at her confused face.

He crouched down and palmed her smooth face as her eyes widened in fear.

"I'm the only one who should be marrying you. Kasi Mary..." he neared his mouth to her face.

"Akin ka lang" he whispered.

At what he said, Mary's eyes widened. She knew that voice! With fear in her heart, Mary slowly turned her head to face the man.

Her stalker finally revealed his face.

(4 hours earlier)

"Strangulation finished the job but severe blows to the head caused her skull to be broken and pierced. Mukhang bato ang ginamit to hit her since may mga particles na residue on her face and inside the skull" Rose's autopsy revealed to Mary.

"Thank you for informing us. We'll get going now" Leo nodded his head at the person as he dragged Mary's frozen form.

Leo seated her on a love couch while she stared into nothingness. When he went to hug her, she evaded his arms which made him frown.

"Are you okay?" Leo asked gently.

"Do I look okay?" she mumbled while still looking down.

They remained that way for the next minutes, with him staring at Mary worriedly while she went deeper in oblivion. Finally, she started to speak, though it was void of emotion.

"Marami nang nadadamay" she said quietly.

"We have to find him Leo. I c-can't get him get away with what he has done to her, to my father, to Connor, to Taylor" she faced Leo.

"Hindi ko aantayin na isang araw, maabutan nalang kitang patay" tears started to fall from her eyes as she talked while Leo wiped them away.

"He can't hurt me, baby. I can take care of myself. You should look out for yourself from now on. Hindi natin alam kung gaano siya kalapit" Leo mumbled as he hugged her.

Mary enjoyed Leo's hug for ten minutes before he excused himself to talk with the police while she stayed on the couch. 30 minutes of being a solid statue, Leo went back to pull her back from her seat.

Her eyes remained empty as he stared at her, though he became accustomed to them since they discovered Rose's corpse two days ago. He could only pull her out like she did when his aunt died.

"Love. Uwi ka muna. Dadaan muna ako sa police station to fill out forms on Rose's case" Leo said to which Mary just mumbled.

She walked briskly out of the room and waited for the elevator to open. Because of her i-nattention to her surroundings, she didn't notice a man that was staring at her. Throughout the ride down the floor until the elevator opened, he kept his gaze at her.
