"Are you sure that you're going to be okay?" Mary asked as she held Leo's face.
"Yes, love. Okay lang ako dito, promise" he smiled sweetly at her.
It was two nights ago when they met Eric. Today was Rose's funeral but Mary was making sure that Leo was fine. He ended up being hospitalized because he didn't only received one, but three stab wounds to his stomach, plus a couple of bruises. He would be staying here for a while.
"Gora na ghorl, ako na magbabantay dito kay papa Leo" Sean smirked at Mary which made Leo laugh.
"See? I'm taken care of. Go ahead, Mary. I'm fine" Leo urged at his fiancé.
"Sige na sis. Bilisan mo na. Baka ma late ka pa sa burial" Sean pushed Mary's form to the door.
"Okay, okay. Fine" Mary laughed as she opened the door but looked back at them. When Sean noticed her still there, he rolled his eyes.
"Aynako gorl. Hindi ko siya papakainin ng lason" Sean mumbled.
"Hindi nga lason, baka gayuma naman" Mary smirked and closed the door as soon as Sean's shoe came flying at her.
When she rode the elevator, Jorge and Ray were at her side. Since Eric, Leo hired two bodyguards for her despite her refusing. For good measure, Leo also bought her a gun which she now kept inside her purse for double protection.
"Saan po tayo ma'am?" Jorge asked Mary as they walked towards her car.
"Libing nung kaibigan ko ngayon" she only mumbled as Ray went to drive while Jorge sat beside him at the front and Mary sat back on the back.
Mumbling the address, the car drove as Mary closed her eyes. As they sped up, they didn't notice the green car trailing behind them.
"Condolences to your family, Mr.Ong" Mary said to Rose's father.
"Thank you, Mary" Mr.Ong smiled sweetly at her.
Rose's family was close with Mary because they shared a deep bond, not just in business with Mary's father. When Mary first became a doctor, Rose's brother got into a lot of trouble. One day, he got shot at and Mary was the one who assisted him. The Ongs were thankful for her while Rose cried to her for saving his brother.
Since then, they became friends. They treated Mary as their own. Rose's parents were fixing her brother's cases that was filed against him when Leo entered the picture. He was the lawyer they got. That was also the time Leo met Mary.
Until now, Mary was cared for deeply by the Ongs and vice versa.
They let Mary have a speech about her friend as Jorge and Ray guarded near her. When it was time to give respects, Mary dropped her bracelet to Rose's coffin. With a tear sliding down her face, she mumbled a weak sorry and goodbye to her best friend.
Returning to her seat, Mary watched as other people paid their respect. Some of them were her crew from Blue Bells. Now that Rose is gone, Rose's brother, Jared will be the one who'll manage the restaurant.
The same as his family, Jared treated Mary as his little sister. And currently, he sat beside Mary as he sighed.
"What's up?" Jared stared at her.
"Cold. Lonely. Miss ko na agad siya" Mary replied.
"I feel you. Kala ko pa naman ako ang unang mamamatay kaysa sakaniya kasi ako ang mas matanda" Jared breathed.
At that, Mary smiled a little.
"Are you okay?" Mary raised her brows at Jared.
"I will be kapag nakita na yung pumatay sa kapatid ko" he muttered angrily while Mary looked down.
