The Colour of My Skin Does Not Define Me

The colour of my skin does not define me

Not my actions or words that I choose to speak

It doesn't come with a pre-existing label that only some choose to see and believe

I define me, and nothing else

The actions of others seem to stand out more now and reflect on me but I'm not like that

Give me a chance to explain before you pull the trigger and take another innocent life........

Canada has the right to freedom of speech and self expression but how can I express myself freely,

If all I have ever been taught and seen in my life was death for the innocent?
