To those of you who body shamed me
saying I "don't look like girls my age"
To those of you who openly told a 9 year old,
that I was going to grow up to be a prostitute
To those of you who accused their daughter of being
a whore, and even going as far as to ask,
"Who is the new boyfriend this time?"
To those of you who thought I was stupid enough to
fall for looks and charm over the way I was being treated
- you were
right
I'll be the first to admit I'm not an angel
Nor did I ever believe myself to be one
However, it took all of this negativity to
push me to become the person I am today
Those words hurt and clearly stuck with me a long time
but it was those very words that I wanted to reflect on
and know deep in my heart
even if you believe otherwise
that they
were
not true
