[24] Don't Even Think About It

Carina

It's eight o'clock and I'm in front of the station, and looking inside I see that the truck is not there, but there's the PRT.
It means that they probably got a call...
I'll wait for her.

But shit...there's a problem, I really need to pee...

I try to resist but I can't, so I decide to go inside, I'll ask Ben if I can use the bathroom.

When I arrive at the PRT, with the corner of my eye I see a girl sitting at the main entrance.

She looks like...
No, it's her!
I can't believe it...
She didn't wait even one day!
I'd like to know what her intentions are.

B-"Heey Carina!!"

Here comes Ben, who distracts me from these thoughts...

C-"Hi Ben! They're out, right?"

B-"Yes, but I call them, and they were coming back."

C-"Great, listen, could I go to the bathroom in the meantime?"

B-"Sure! Look, the bathroom is that door near the main entrance!"

He tells me, indicating it

C-"And that girl's been there for a long time?"

B-"Yeah, she was with Maya actually..when they got the call..."

C-"Okay, thanks Ben, I'm going to the bathroom."

When she sees me, she gets scared for a second

H-"Hi Carina! You here too?"

C-"Hello, Hima...Yes, I'm waiting for MY girlfriend, and what are you doing here?"

I say, accentuating the word "my"

H-"Well, I...I was waiting for Maya, I came to say hello earlier, but she had to leave right away, and so I thought I'd wait for her...But maybe, I should go..."

I can't help myself and I say to her, smiling

C-"Yeah, maybe it's better."

H-"Carina I...I didn't...I wanted to see her again, and think about old times, what are you afraid of?
That she don't love you enough and that I can take her away from you?"

She tells me trying to irritate me
And she does it.

C-"Okay now listen to me...
Maya is trying to put the past behind her, to move on...
And I won't let you screw it up!
She's feeling better now, thanks to me. And no...you don't scare me, I know she loves me.
And if you want, you can try...
But believe me, you're not gonna take her away from me."

When these words come out of my mouth, I see the truck coming back in.

She doesn't have time to answer me that Maya's join us.

M-"Hima? What are you doing still here?"

H-"We haven't been able to talk much, and I thought I'd wait for you..."

She says, making goo-goo eyes to her, in front of me.

Now I kill her.

I'm saying something when Maya anticipates me.

M-"I'm sorry, but now I have to go home with my girlfriend...
Look, Hima...I'm happy that we met again, but the past is over, and I'm moving on...
It's better if you leave now, please."

I'm surprised, I didn't expect that.
But it makes me happy.
I'm proud of her.

H-"Okay, I'm leaving, but know that you two will regret treat me like this!"

C-"Addiooo" (Goodbye)

I greet her in Italian, watching her go away.

M-"Why did she say two? What did you say to her?"

C-"Me? Nothing! I have to pee, I'll be right back."

Maya

I'm really curious to know what she said to her.
I wait for Carina to come back from the bathroom and after we say goodbye to alla the team, we go to the car hand in hand.

While she drive I look at her

M-"Now can you tell me what you said to her?"

C-"She tried to irritate me...asking me if I was afraid that she would take you away from me, and I just made her realize that you are mine."

I am surprised by her answer.

M-"The fact that you're so sure makes me happy, baby."

C-"Actually I am not...but I had to look convincing....I mean, I wasn't...
But then you answer her like this and now I'm more relaxed."

Those words hurt a little...
I want her to trust me, but I understand it's very difficult after what I did to her...

I don't answer her...
But I decided to do something.
I'll probably do it tonight.

We're at Carina's house, and I really need a shower.

M-"I need to shower, do you want to do it with me?"

C-"Yeah, we'll take a quick shower and then I'll make us some food, okay?"

M-"Perfect"

We do as we said, and in a short time we had dinner and get to bed, tired for this day.

I put an alarm clock with the vibration to remind me to do that thing. Hoping that it will not wake up her too.

M-"Goodnight baby, I love you"

C-"Goodnight bellissima, I love you too"

Then we hug and fall into a deep sleep.
