"You better remove that tiny pout on your lovely face, mija."

Her mother's voice is always endearing, when she speaks it's like a spell is being casted on you. Lisa inherited that, in result, her voice became a perfect tone for ballads and acapellas. Although her mom is calmly speaking she knows what's going on in her mind, she's nervous and worried.

They put every cent they have at stake for her to enter the prestigious art school, Naekkeum School of Arts. Plane tickets, a new apartment, appliances, everything is a new beginning for Lisa. She wasn't born with a silver spoon in her mouth, she got the chance though. Her father, a Swiss soldier is well off, however, after he knew that her mother is carrying her in her womb, the man fled faster than a fly. Just like that, he cut off any connection they were supposed to have.

Is she disappointed? Mildly, yes. Growing up without a father figure was a pain for both her and her mother. Her mom never made her feel like it, though. That hole her father left was filled with love and care from her mother and grandparents.

Although her father left long ago, her mom never tried finding another partner. She's deeply in love with the man and she believes no one can replace him. Deep inside, Lisa wants to confront her mom, maybe tie her and schedule a blind date. After all, her mom is a total beauty, no signs of aging at all, she's as pretty as when she was younger.

What's making her sulky is that she has to live alone in Korea. Today is the day her mom is scheduled to be back in Thailand, at the same time it's her first day in school. She wants to be with her more, if possible live together with her but their small business in her homeland must be taken care of. She wishes to at least send her mom off but their schedules overlapped.

"I don't think I can live without you, ma."

She felt her gentle tap on her head, a thing her mom normally does to console her when she's upset. That made her eyes tear up.

"You can, you will. It's because you aspire to make me proud, right?"

Her warm words made its way to Lisa's heart. Maybe that's right, that's the only thing she needs to hear right now. She caged her mom into a tight hug, it will be a little long until they meet again.

"Aww ma, my makeup will be ruined don't make me cry!"

Lisa naturally is very emotional. She tends to cry over small stuff what more if it's her mom to be talked about? They made one last quick farewell before she made her way to call a cab.

While on the way to school, she can't help but think about everything she left behind. Her hometown, her cats, her former school, friends, her mom.

The only thing that keeps her going is the fire in her heart. She will finish college and find a good job with a decent pay, she will give her mom a good life. Yes, that's it. That should motivate her.
