"Ms. Kim passed the reports earlier, son, I'm so proud of you. This makes me at ease, I can be on my eternal rest tomorrow in peace because I know the company will be in the best hand of my genius son."
What a compliment, Jungkook thought. It is something a son would kill to hear from his parents. Oh he would cry of joy of it was for him. Sadly, however, he can only dream.
"Pa, don't talk like that, you still owe me your secrets to success."
His brother, Kim Nam Joon is everything to his father's eyes. He's the perfect son, one that is not taught but born genius. He's the highlight of the family, the main guy. The very reason why he doesn't believe that there is no one perfect, because for him? He is.
If you're going to ask him who he want to be if he's going to be reincarnated, his answer will be very clear. But he doesn't hate him, in fact he's the person he adores the most. Maybe he feel envious, yes, but he never felt mad, the reason? He doesn't certainly know. At some point, he just know it will be unreasonable because he's been nothing but a great brother to him... even though they aren't related by blood.
Jungkook is an orphan.
The Kim family sheltered him after the gruesome accident his parents got involved in. As a kid, he always thought how he never wished to live. That he should've went to heaven with his family.
He's thankful but he still think that he's just someone they are feeding to live. After all they don't really have to care at all because who is he, right? He's just a family friend, they were just kind enough to put a roof above his head and not let him starve to death.
Even though they take good care of him, he feels the barrier. An invisible wall separating him from them. He wasn't even able to change his surname. He's a different person. But deep inside him, isn't it just right to hope to belong? To be one with them?
That's why he busies himself with school stuff, and well, extracurricular activities. What kind of activities, you ask? I don't think it's the right chapter to discuss that.
At school, he is indeed the Mr. Perfect, just like his brother, the guy he wants to be. They treat him like the main guy, he's the genius, he's everything that is power. He likes that, he wants that. He strive for that.
He exhausts himself for this title, he gives his everything to be the person that everybody should look up to. He won't let this be ruined.
That's why looking back a week ago, he almost punched himself in the face after losing his shit in front of the transferee student. He can't help it, he just exploded that time. Maybe that's the down side of bottling up his feelings, he never know when it will escape. He needs to give her a good impression of him that's why at the clinic he tried helping. If that was enough is not in his hands anymore.
He can't bear hearing the guitar from that girl, hell they even had the same voice and figure. That moment he saw her, he felt as if he was being haunted by a ghost from the past. A ghost he doesn't want to remember but can't get off his chest.
