"Home sweet home." Lisa flashed a big smile. She covered her eyes from the sun by using her palms.
They just got off the private jet and she's currently looking for her mother that offered them accommodation for 2 days and a night. Since their destination is the island of Kho Pha-ngan, it will take them 8 hours or more if they take a certain route. Her aunt that currently lives with her mom because she's still single and her house is "lonely" as she describes.
"Lisa!" She turned around and saw her aunt and mother rushing towards her in their matching maxi dresses and big sun hats. Lisa happily embraced them both before kissing their cheeks.
Jungkook stood quietly observing the view. Looking at Lisa right now, he feels relieved for a some reason, and somehow envious. He thought about how parents lovingly welcome their children like that. He never experienced that, or maybe he did? Almost a hundred percent of his memory from his childhood has been erased by traumas that up until now, he has to bear.
He stood straight when Lisa suddenly held his arms and pulled him towards the two ladies. He know Lisa's mother's face because she has her as Facebook cover photo. The other lady, he assumed is her aunt.
Lisa spoke straight Thai that he cannot really understand, he just smiled and nodded as a kind gesture. Lisa's mom smiled at him, out of reflex he made the Thai gesture "wai". He pressed his palms together in a prayer-like gesture then bowed his head.
The two ladies, also Lisa raised both eyebrows in unison. "Phǒm chûu JK khráp."
Jungkook said that in the best way he possibly can, although he knows for a fact it probably sounds cringey.
"Well someone did his research." Lisa's mother said in Thai, Lisa's aunt giggled with her. The brunette was still in shock.
Jungkook scratched his head in embarrassment. He heard Lisa's aunt spoke. It was fast and the only audible word he recognized was "faen" that translates to "a lover".
Him and Lisa looked at each other at the same time with flushed cheeks. Lisa was quick to brush it off though and then answered her aunt in Thai. Explaining what really is their relationship.
Soon, Lisa introduced the others one by one. Her aunt and mother hugged them and answered in simple English. Jisoo that was familiar with a lot of Thai words amused her aunt and mom with her knowledge.
Jimin that was smiling nonstop didn't fail to make her aunt fond of him, she even started calling him "son" already. Taehyung was quietly taking pictures and the two girls, Jennie and Chaeyoung was checking their itinerary.
That leaves Jungkook and Lisa idly standing together, the obvious silence making them both awkward.
"Liz.." he whispered.
Lisa was startled but managed to collect herself. "Yeah?"
"I didn't fuck the accent, did I?" Jungkook sounded like he's really worried, it's adorable but Lisa being her usual self looked at him deadpan.
"You actually mispronounced it and said an offensive word."
Lisa saw how color drained from Jungkook's face, she almost grinned.
"What? Really? I should apologize." He was quick to move but halted when he heard Lisa's giggles.
She toyed me again.
In other instances he will probably get mad because he doesn't like getting played like that. But how can you get angry at someone like Lisa? Especially when she's laughing like the happiest kid. He could almost swear her cheeks are about to pop.
What are these observations, Jeon? You sound obsessive. He thought.
Jungkook crossed his arms then raised an eyebrow at Lisa. "So you're happy fooling with me, huh?"
Lisa stopped laughing, seeing how serious Jungkook is won't stop her amusement. "Well yes, sir. I like sight of it, so what?"
"I will never win with you, huh?"
"Oh you just realized?"
"You're so petty and for what? I'm like the nicest guy ever." He whined.
She stuck her tongue out to tease him more. Jungkook snickered, she's too cute for his liking and it's really messing him up. When did someone making fun of you ever was cute? He should be annoyed but instead, he actually likes it.
"Serves you right for treating me like I'm somebody else." Lisa flipped her hair.
So she's still not over that? I can't blame her, it's completely my fault.
Jungkook stared at her with worried eyes that Lisa noticed immediately. He's the type that can be very shallow with his emotion when he chooses to. Lisa felt privileged to see such raw expressions from him. At the same time, it scares her. The more she gets close to him, the more dangerous it feels.
"I'm sorry."
"Do you still love her?" She asked, her voice a little hopeful. If she decides to push this through, shouldn't she at least test the waters? She doesn't want to fight a war without a chance of winning.
Lisa has been thinking a lot, if she confesses, maybe he won't be too rude about it right? They're friends and closer than ever, she's wishing that he will respect her feelings. It's not like she's desperate for him to reciprocate it, actually she don't want to mess his mind. And if he's still in love with her that's a giant red flag waving.
Jungkook stayed silent, he looked at the side. "She's already in the past."
"I know." Lisa said, her eyes unconsciously staring at her friends laughing with her mom. Her focus went back to Jungkook.
"People... when they enter your life, even when they leave, they also leave traces. Even the tiniest one. It stays." She smiled.
"Why are you telling me this?"
"I just want to tell you that moving on doesn't require you to erase everything about them."
"I moved on, Lisa. She's gone now, I shouldn't even be talking about an ex with my current." Jungkook mumbled, not being able to filter his words.
"What do you mean?" Lisa asked, flustered.
Jungkook's lips pouted because of how hard he tries to not smile. "You introduced me as your boyfriend, I heard it."
The brunette looked like a ripen tomato. She shook her head in defense. "No I didn't!"
"Whatever," Jungkook grinned in amusement, "teerak."
