"I can't believe you, do you think I'm that incapable?"
Lisa slowly pulled her phone's speaker away from her ear, she had to shut her eyes tightly as she flinched whenever her mom raises her voice slightly.
"Ma, I just don't want to bother you."
"If I don't want to be bothered, I shouldn't have gave birth to you."
She pouted, this is exactly what she doesn't want. They were on FaceTime since earlier and she accidentally spilled about her "job", her mom, being the concerned mother that she is was totally unimpressed.
"I just wanted to help—"
"Finish studying, that's the only help I want from you for now. Business is doing good and I want to do this for you."
"Fine but tell me if things are rough..."
"Don't you trust your mother? I'm stronger than what you think."
Lisa smiled meekly, her mom's voice warming her heart and making her forget about the bad things that were happening lately.
"I miss you, ma."
She had to be independent, no matter how hard it is, there's nothing she can do but grow from her experiences alone. She might be a happy-go-lucky kid but sometimes she can't help but long for things she left, not totally abandoned, but you get her point.
"I miss you, and I love you, honey."
After the video call with her mom, Lisa laid on her bed, her hands rested at the back of her head, she mindlessly stared at the ceiling counting non-existent sheep.
She have to call her Hye Soo unni later to announce herself dropping the job. Lisa felt a pinch of guilt but surely she will be replaced quickly. Also, maybe it's a good thing if she distance herself from the Park siblings' e-café because he often goes there.
"You're pushing yourself to me."
"That son of a biss." Is she upset? Totally. Is she planning to murder him? Maybe.
But is she really mad?
Lisa grabbed a fistful of her hair and pulled it. "Why are you hesitating? You should be mad."
She covered her face with a pillow then screamed really loudly. Her voice came out muffled but it somehow lessened the burden she's carrying.
For some reason, she can't be mad.
His words were too much, yes, but deep down, she feel like it's all meaningless.
"Seriously, Liz? You're defending that devil?"
Well, it's not like he haven't done anything good for me, right? The other side of her brain argued.
Maybe, partially, it was her fault for "pushing" herself to him. Still! He could've just told me from the very start.
