Sophie woke up the next morning exhausted. And the next. And the next. Instead of studying as she had planned, the Councillors had a different agenda. She woke at 8 every morning, ate quickly, and got dressed, stumbling to light leap to one of the Councillor's castles. There, she followed an intensive training schedule, consisting of memorizing all the Lost Cities' laws, learning all about the other intelligent species' laws, learning countless customs, etiquette, public relations, traditions, even how to eat in the presence of the other intelligent species' leaders.

They had even spent 3 hours just on how Sophie should hold herself (back straight, head high, shoulders back, arms clasped in front of her), as well as bowing. She went home to the gold tower exhausted every night, bones aching, mind a mess of facts and knowledge. She had gone through the Rearview again, with a whole different set of challenges, barely passing some of them. Yet, at the end of every long day, Councillor Bronte nodded in approval, Councillor Oralie smiled brighter, and even Councillor Emery stopped complaining about the situation. Sophie took it as a good sign.

It was finally Saturday, the last full day of vacation until Elite level students would return to Foxfire. Sophie stumbled out of bed again, went through her routine, and checked her imparter for any messages. None. She had messaged her parents a few times, reassuring them that yes, she was sleeping (which was a lie), and no, she would not come home to visit. Fitz hadn't called her since she left and from Biana's brief messages, well... he was still not too happy about his girlfriend's decision. Sophie couldn't worry about Fitz when she came home at 10 every night, barely able to keep her focus to light leap. But today was the last day. Sophie smiled grimly at the thought. She felt less than prepared but they didn't have much time. She just hoped people wouldn't lash out at her poor ruling skills. Sophie smiled weakly as she was whisked away in the light, glad to be almost done.

⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂

She was greeted by Councillor Oralie, smiling as always. "Sophie, dear. It's a very important day. You were almost late," she said sweetly. Sophie mumbled an apology but Oralie laughed. "Come, dear. To my office, we go." She led her up a shimmering pink staircase and into an even brighter office with pink walls and shimmering gemstones inlaid in rose gold. In a corner, though, stood a strange assortment of precious stones in a huge case. The case itself was enormous, with oak doors inlaid with diamonds and shimmering crystal panes on the doors. Inside lay huge stones worth billions in the human world, each with a name and description. Sophie looked at it peculiarly, confused. "What is this about?" she asked. Oralie smiled with hidden knowledge. "You're only just picking your personalized Councillor jewel."

Sophie's eyes widened. "N-now?" she stammered. Oralie nodded. "It takes time to create the circlets, tiaras, capes, etc. The stone that you pick will also be featured in your Councillor castle which has already started the remodeling phase. We will also be picking furnishing styles later today," she explained. Sophie felt overwhelmed. It was all so rushed. "What about Councillor Ramira?" she asked to get her mind off of things. "She has already started moving into her new home. It's quite beautiful. She lived there before she became a Councillor and it's in a wonderful location," Oralie added. Sophie nodded. She didn't know Councillor Ramira well but she knew how difficult the transition could be based on past records she had read. "Now," Oralie clapped. "Let's get started, shall we?" she asked excitedly.
