Sophie felt jittery and, quite frankly, slightly horrified at what she'd done. She had taken a vow of silence with the Councillors to promise not to reveal anything until the official announcement. It was December. School ended in May, which meant she had to wait a whole 5 months before Councillor Ramira announces her resignation, and Sophie is officially introduced to the intelligent species as the youngest Councillor ever. She had a feeling people would be upset- they had the right to, after all, for Councillors had always been elected through a vote. Councillor Terik assured her that they were making the right decision by allowing such a young and powerful elf to join their ranks. Sophie wasn't worried about the other elves, though. She was worried about her friends, her family, and the black swan. Their reactions were sure to be devastating but at that point it would be too late. Sophie will have already taken her position.

Sophie light lept home, hungry and exhausted. She had had a small meal of biscuits that tasted like a ham and cheese sandwich and had periodically drunk some tea but all the emotions had overwhelmed her. She arrived in the living room and breathed in. The room smelled like a stew Sophie knew all too well. She ran into the kitchen to find a small gnome busy at work making delicious starkflower stew. "Flori? What are you doing here!?" exclaimed Sophie. Her former bodyguard spun around and grinned to reveal her green teeth. "I thought I would surprise you after not seeing you for so long," she explained, her melodic voice already soothing Sophie's anxiety. After the Neverseen were defeated, Flori left Sophie's side begrudgingly after Sophie convinced her to help assemble a new Gnomish government. Flori was now an ambassador, traveling to and from the new capital city, named Calla after the gnome who had saved them all. She had visited Sophie a few times but was quite busy organizing the new government; the city was small due to the many gnomes who wanted to stay with their elven protectors but things were progressing.

"Oh, it smells so good," Sophie said, her mouth-watering. Flori smiled and returned to her bustling around, busy making the divine stew. "Where are Grady and Edaline?" Sophie asked. Flori pointed out the door. "Busy with a new arrival. A Lambeosaurus got hurt in one of the reserves and had to get sent here. Be careful- she's feisty," Flori warned, and Sophie nodded. "Let me go and get changed," Sophie declared as if to say she would go help them. Really, Sophie wished she could hide in her room forever. There was no way she would be able to last a whole 5 months. She would break eventually. Sophie tried not to think about it and went up to her room to change. She slipped off her dress and pulled on a comfortable tunic. She then took Iggy out of his cage and flopped on her bed. "Oh, Iggy, what am I going to do?" she asked. The imp yawned and Sophie coughed at his breath. Fitz was going to kill her. Biana and Lihn would too, considering they had shipped Sophie and Fitz together for a while now. And Mr. Forkle? He was going to blow a fuse. Sophie tried not to think about it.

Sophie woke up to a start and found that it was dark outside. She had, without realizing, fallen asleep. Sophie squinted at the clock by her door. It was 6:30. Sophie rolled off the bed and crept downstairs where Grady and Edaline were talking with Flori. "Ah, there's Sophie!" exclaimed Grady. Sophie smiled and walked over to hug him. "How was your day?" asked Edaline, obviously intrigued to learn about Sophie's evolving relationship with the teal eyed elf. "It was decent. We played base quest with Biana and Fitz. Keefe came over too," Sophie lied. She hated it and was silently thankful none of her adoptive parents were empaths. At this point, she would've been long caught. Grady frowned. "As long as there's no...silly business, I'm fine with it," he said. If only he knew, Sophie thought, and they all sat down with the other helpful gnomes to a delicious meal. Sophie excused herself, feigning fatigue, and went upstairs.

She slipped on her pj's and then, after little consideration, pulled on one of her old gray hoodies from back when she was in the human world. She pulled out her old iPod and started playing her "sad" playlist. Grabbing Iggy and Ella, she snuggled under her covers and hoped the next 5 months would go by quickly.
