Abby woke up in her bed, holding her head with a groan. Her whole body ached like she had been ran over by a truck; but what hurt the most was her neck. Abby placed her hand over the aching spot and drew it back to see blood, her eyes widening at the sight. Just then, the bathroom door burst open and Ahura revealed herself, bowing to Abby. In her hand, she held a bowl that let out out steam from how hot the water was. A towel hung over the side of the bowl, half of it in the water and the other half dry and dangling on the side.
"Princess! You are awake!" Abby managed to crack a smile at Ahura' happy face. Ahura approached Abby, placing the bowl and towel on a side stool Abby hadn't noticed before. Abby tried to sit up but was gently laid back down by Ahura. Abby stared at her with surprised eyes.
"As much as I respect you, princess, I cannot allow you to stress yourself in the current state your in..." Abby rose a brow at her, wincing as even the little motion hurt.
"You're speaking as if I'm on my death bed." Ahura shook her head, her eyes filling with tears as she stared at Abby's clueless face.
"Do you not remember what happened yesternight, princess?" Abby had to stop herself from laughing at the word.
Yesternight...
It just sounded so wrong...but Abby knew she couldn't express her amusement in the critical condition she was in.
"No...what happened?" The tears fell from Ahura' eyes as she looked down at the ground, not able to bare the pain of looking into the eyes of the only nice person she had ever met in the kingdom after years and telling her such horrible news.
"Prince Sethos' - second born of Queen Nerfertiti- brought you in in the middle of the night..." Abby furrowed her brows despite the pain, confused at what Ahura was hinting at. Tears still falling from Ahura' eyes, she continued. "You were bleeding, princess. All over. You were unconscious as well. I had to change the bed garments and wash you..." Abby froze.
"You...washed me?" Ahura nodded, tears still rolling down her tan cheeks.
"You were bleeding from your hand, so I bandaged it..." Abby's eyes fell to her bandaged right hand that lay useless by her side. Memories flashed before Abby's eyes, the blood pouring out of the four puncture wounds in her hand. The fork standing there and her sobs as she crawled away from Seth who stalked closer with his glowing eyes.
"The puncture wounds in your neck are because he drank from you..." Abby looked at the blood on her fingertips again remembering her screams as Seth sucked her blood. "This is your punishment..."
"He didn't heal you with his blood." Tears filled Abby's eyes as sobs racked through her body. She ignored the pain in her arms and covered her face in an attempt to hide how pathetic she really was. She felt the bed dip next to her as Ahura sat down.
"I'm really sorry, Princess..." Abby shook her head, still ignoring the pain in her neck.
"I want to get out of here," she found herself whispering.
"And we will, Princess. It's only a matter of time." Abby locked eyes with Ahura.
"Are you really sure? The way I see it, we'll never find a way out of this hellhole." Ahura shook her head, getting up from the bed.
"You have always taught me to be strong, Princess. Although we have only known one another for nights, I am certain that we will make it out of here together." Abby smiled softly at Ahura. Her confidence and belief was admirable, but Abby knew the consequences she would face if she ever left. She knew she couldn't leave her sister who was arriving the day after to suffer in Egypt. She couldn't run away cause she knew that Seth would always find her with his freakish eye. What did he call it again? The eye of Horus?
"Your confidence and strong faith is admirable, Ahura, but assuming my sister comes to Egypt tomorrow, I can't just leave her alone here...she'll never survive it..."
"We can get her out too, Princess..."
"What's our escape plan? We have nothing, Ahura. This whole plan is pointless!" Ahura' eyes grew soft and teary making Abby's expression soften. She regretted talking to Ahura like that...
"You taught me to have faith, Princess...and now you're forgetting all the things you taught me..." Ahura didn't say anything else as she squeezed the towel and softly pressed on Abby's wounds causing her to wince.
"Drink this, Princess. It will help with the pain." Abby, knowing Ahura wasn't in the mood to say much took the steaming cup from her hands, not looking into it before gulping it down. It was tasteless and sticky but slid right down her throat and she handed Ahura the cup when she was done. Soon enough, her body was going numb and she could hardly feel any pain anymore.
"Thank you..." Ahura bowed, looking down at the ground with an emotionless expression gracing her innocent features.
"I am sorry, Princess, but I have to inform you that you have to eat the first meal of the day with Prince Sethos'..." Abby didn't say anything, not knowing how to feel, but instead nodded and followed after Ahura and into the bathroom. She didn't have the strength mentally and physically to fight with Ahura about her bathing Abby, but she instead just sat back and let her do all the work. As Abby felt the warm cloth moving over her back as she lay in the tub, she couldn't help but wonder what the breakfast would bring. She just hoped she wouldn't be abused again, but no one could tell...she just had to sit back and watch how it will all take place, knowing it will be harder than she visualised...
