Abigail's pov

Abby could freely say that she was terrified. Maybe it wasn't that much of a good idea to leave? No. She would get out of this hellhole no matter what! She couldn't be the stick in fetch for a bunch of princes to catch and fight over. She was exhausted both mentally and emotionally, she wanted nothing to do with any royal from Egypt. She had only seen a corner of the castle and she was already traumatized; Abby could confidently say she didn't want to see the rest.

As Abby sat on her bed way in the middle of the night, replaying her conversation with Seth, she would sigh and turn her head to look at the same wall she always stared at. It seemed as if it was the only sane person in the region she resided in.

Wow! A wall is a person?!

Of course, it is!

Just great...Abby could feel insanity knocking at her door as well. Just then, Abby heard the quiet knocks on her door. She climbed out of bed slowly, wincing when she would have to flex her shoulders and use her right hand, but Abby still managed to get behind the door and pull the handle up and down with much effort on her part due to how stiff it was, although whoever was there had gotten the gist and unlocked the door before walking in.

"Ahura! What are you doing here?!" Abby found herself whisper yelling at her only friend in Egypt who she didn't want to get hurt because she was defying the rules.

Smiling, Ahura retorted, "Relax, Princess. The royals don't stay awake past midnight..." Abby found herself terrified at the news. What were the creatures she lived with?

"Princess, I received a great news yesterday on how we could escape through the toilet while everyone is distracted by the arrival of first born Crown Prince Cepos." Abby found her eyes widening. The message was just like to the one she had received.

"It was from a guard." Abby frowned at that, finding her natural instinct of distrust setting into high gear.

"What did he look like?" Ahura wasted no time in replying, her eyes sparkling with infatuation.

"He was very handsome, Princess. He had the shiny golden hair and these blue eyes that shine like the Egyptian sun. He was packed as well with a body carved to perfection by a god's hands..." Abby found her eyes squinting at this answer. "—If I didn't know better, I'd say he was a god himself." Abby shook her head immediately, her distrust overpowering the little faith she had had deep inside of her.

"Did you know his name?" Ahura frowned. "No, but..." Abby cut Ahura off sharply.

"If you didn't get his name, forget it." Abby turned around to walk over to her bed.

"He didn't look from around here..." Abby swiveled her head around to lock eyes with Ahura, hers narrowed and intimidating.

"Is that a good thing?" Ahura' pursed her lips, looking down at the ground.

"We know nothing whatsoever about his people; hell, we don't even know where he's from and he wants to help us. It smells like a whole bunch of cooked up lies to lure us into a trap." Ahura shook her head, looking at Abby.

"N-No Princess. He's good! I could tell..."

"You could tell?" Abby turned to lock eyes with Ahura. "—Tell me again how old you are." Ahura looked down in shame.

"Fifteen."

Oh, she's fifteen!

"Fifteen. Fifteen, young, naive and foolish...the perfect combination." Laughter rippled through Abby's throat as Ahura' eyes filled with tears. Seeing that, Abby stood up, placing her hands on Ahura' shoulders.

"Ahura, you are a beautiful girl of circumstance. Don't let this ginger you into more than you can chew, you haven't even swallowed this down yet and you're looking for something else to stuff in your mouth. You're far too young to be thinking of this, just because your life isn't great doesn't mean you should jump into a life that could be possibly worse." Ahura' tears fell one after the other and Abby wrapped her hands around her as tears of her own clouded her gaze.

"I just want to see my family again..."

"I know, I know." Abby stroked her hair slowly and assuredly. "We will get out of here, Ahura...just the right way. I don't want to lose you ever and anyone who takes you away from me would suffer a life full of pain, torture and regret. You'll never get hurt on my watch, I promise." Ahura simply nodded, clutching at Abby for comfort.

"You know what? Why don't you sleep here tonight? I know you don't want to go back to the maid quarters." Ahura nodded, not finding the strength in her to argue with her princess so she simply laid on the bed, letting Abby stroke her hair softly and sing some comforting songs till she fell asleep.

***
It was a new day. Abby's eyes cracked open to see her bed was empty. A yawn broke out of her lips as she turned to access the room. With effort on her part, she got up and off the bed only wincing twice in pain. The door to the bathroom opening to reveal Ahura carrying a bowl giving off steam and a towel hanging from the side of it.

Ahura cracked a comforting smile, walked towards Abby and setting the things down on the side stool, she say over on the bed. Despite the heat Abby knew the towel held, Ahura took it, squeezing out the hot water and blowing onto her red hands desperately. When she had gotten rid of some of the hot liquid, she took it over to Abby's shoulder, careful to only graze across her neck and not hurt her. Abby winced as the heat met her open injuries. The towel being taken away immediately as Ahura sensed Abby's pain, the blood on it was clearly visible. Abby couldn't help the tears that flooded her eyes. That was her blood, sucked away from her. Ahura grabbed her right hand, a bandage she hadn't noticed before wrapped around her wrist, the blood showing through it.

Abby's tears fell one after the other as Ahura unwrapped it, having new bandages she hadn't noticed before on the nightstand. The bandage around her palm was also pulled off to reveal her slowly healing holes from where the fork once stood. Abby couldn't help herself at the sight of the slightly opened wound that was stitching itself together, she was sure it would take weeks to heal fully. Abby couldn't help herself, the bile rose up in her throat so fast, she didn't have the time to think of how to react except the natural instinct to duck and let her lips open up to release the unwanted guest. Abby felt the tears roll down her cheeks as she threw up some more. Her hair being pulled back by Ahura who didn't show any concern for the bile pouring onto the once clean tiles. As Abby felt like her insides were going to show up in one of her many hurls, she couldn't help the sombre feeling that rose up in her and told her that this was only the beginning...
