Chapter 1

Hi, I'm Alice. I'm 15. I wouldn't really say I have the easiest life, I live with my dad and step-family because my mother ran away when I was younger. Me and my dad don't have the best relationship and I don't think he really wants me with him. School isn't easy either. I'm in my last year and have been bullied for the past year. I mostly just spend my time on my stereo kicks fan account on Twitter. I have one friend in school, Lewis, who also happens to be Reece Bibby's cousin (let's just pretend that Reece's cousin is called Lewis okay). They aren't very close but still speak to each other on occasions.

It was the last day of term before Christmas. Me and Lewis had agreed not to buy each other Christmas presents because we are both really bad at buying them. However, when we sat down in registration he told me he had something for me. He took out his phone and clicked on messages.

"Look at this" he said, passing me his phone. I glanced at the contact and saw it was Reece.

"What are you showing me this for?" I asked him, confused.

"Just read the conversation" he replied, smiling at me. I looked back down at the phone and scrolled to the top of the conversation.

Lewis: hi reece, I know we haven't spoken in a while but I was wondering if you could do me a favour? My friend has been going through a rough time lately and she's a huge fan of yours. I just thought that if you could maybe message her on Twitter or something it would cheer her up a bit. It's not a big ask but it would mean a lot to her.

Reece: yeah of course mate, what's her Twitter?

Lewis: @punkrockbibby (this is actually my Twitter so follow me), thanks reece, and congrats on doing so well on the X factor, not had a chance to speak to you really.

Reece: anytime and thanks :)

I looked up at Lewis, I couldn't thank him enough. He looked back at me with a huge smile on his face.

"Merry Christmas" he said.

"Lewis I don't know what to say, thank you but you've kinda ruined the surprise a bit there, you know my dad took my phone off me for the week" I laughed as he realised his mistake.

"Oh shit yeah, sorry Alice but at least you're getting it back tonight" he replied as the bell went to signal first lesson.

The day was going well, school was finishing early and no one seemed to notice me today, all too distracted by Christmas.
