*avengers- 2012*
loki was in the cage, smirking. he didn't care who they sent, no one would make him crack. he didn't know any of the stupid avengers. he wouldn't listen to them. they were pathetic.
—>meanwhile<—
"thank you for coming, tyra. we didn't know who else to ask for."
tyra stood at the cameras, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. she watched loki through the screen. "what exactly am i supposed to do?"
captain america stepped in, "find out his plan. why did he come here?"
tyra nodded. "right."
stark pointed to her. "why her?"
"what?" natasha had been friendly to tyra since she'd arrived, so she wouldn't allow stark to be rude to her.
"well, why is she the one you think loki will talk to?"
thor answered, being the only one who knew the correct answer, "they're in love with each other."
tyra walked away, toward the stairs that would lead her to her loki. she internally sighed.
thor grabbed mjolnir and led the way. "i am sorry for bringing up your love."
tyra shrugged. "it is not a big deal, thor."
he didn't acknowledge what she said, instead stopping at the outer doors. "you wait here. you'll know when to walk in."
tyra nodded and leaned against the wall. she tapped her foot to calm her nerves. would loki really talk to her? were they really still in love? didn't loki hate her?
"i won't talk to any of your little friends, brother." he smirked.
thor chuckled. "you may once you know who it is."
tyra took that as her cue and stepped forward, head straight ahead, staring right at loki.
his smirk faltered. "tyra," he breathed out her name. her heart started to race. she missed him. then he smirked again. "why would i ever talk to her?"
she flinched, her racing heart now breaking. his voice sounded genuine, but then she looked at his face. she saw the confusion, the hurt; it was evident. "loki..."
he put his hands against the glass. "you'll come see me to question me for these people you don't know?!"
"loki, you're doing the wrong thing," she was walking toward him slowly.
thor stood to the side, prepared to use mjolnir at any time.
"you know NOTHING about what the wrong thing is," he slammed his fist against the glass.
thor raised mjolnir, but tyra held a hand up. she stepped up to the glass and looked into loki's eyes. "loki. i love you."
he faltered, his hands falling to his side. then he rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. "you're a liar."
she put her hand up to the glass, letting her facade fall. she stared into his eyes, trying to convey that she was genuine. "i love you, loki."
he was staring at her hand. "you're trying to use that against me. you're trying to get me to say it back so i'll trust you."
she smiled and tilted her head. "is it working?"
he chuckled. "i'll tell you on one condition."
"okay. what's the condition?"
"come in here."
"what?"
he put his head against the glass. "i'd like to hug you."
she looked back at thor, who shrugged. her decision to make.
she looked at loki. "okay." then she nodded. "okay, yeah. i'll come in."
stark's voice started talking in her ear. she forgot she had put an earpiece on her earlobe so she could talk to them. "walk to the door. we'll open it just enough to let you through. go quickly and then we'll shut it again. just tell us when you want out."
"okay." she walked to the door, getting as close as possible. as soon as it opened enough, she squeezed through. the door shut behind her.
she looked at loki. she hadn't seen him in almost a year. "why are you here, loki?"
he didn't respond, just stepped closer to her. he reached for her, and she didn't move. he pulled her against him. she didn't want to give in, but he had her cave. she hugged back.
he smelled the same, acted the same, looked the same. he was the same. except now, he wasn't doing the right thing.
he kept her in his arms as he replied, "i was sent here to take over new york. aliens are coming. we have to fight these 'heroes', to destroy them."
she pulled away, looking up at him. "loki. don't do this."
"don't tell me what to do."
"loki, please."
he released her and rolled his eyes again. "i haven't seen you in a year, tyra! then suddenly you think you can come back and think i still love you?" he scoffed. "you never cared before. you left without a word, and now i'm expected to listen to you." he started to turn around so his back was to her when he saw thor through the glass. thor was tensed up, watching tyra cautiously. loki stopped moving to stare at him. then he got an idea.
loki lunged at tyra, knocking her to the ground. he made sure his arms were around her, so she didn't hit the ground too hard. thor was at the glass in an instant.
loki's lip quivered as he got off of her. the look on thor and tyra's faces as they looked at each other was different now. did they love each other?
he looked at the ground. that's why she came. not for him. she came for thor.
"get out," his voice was small, not how he normally sounded.
"what, why?" tyra was standing again.
loki looked up, tears in his eyes. he roared, "leave!"
tyra choked, "please."
the look on his face made her realize he was really mad. she didn't know why he would be, but she left anyway.
tears were pouring down her face as the door opened and closed.
thor immediately reached for her, but she pushed him away and ran back to where everyone else was.
"i'm not talking to him again. find out what he wants your own way."
"he already said-" bruce began. tyra punched him.
"who did something?"
"what are you talking about?"
"he just randomly flipped out," tyra threw her hands out. "he looked like he was going to cry! someone had to have done something."
"we didn't do anything."
"right." she looked at the cameras. loki was sitting against the glass, sobbing. "is there a way to talk to him through here?"
"yeah, there's a microphone," bruce pointed to it.
tyra grabbed it. "loki, listen to me." she saw him look toward the speaker. "i don't know why you flipped out like that, but if i did something, i'm sorry." tyra's own tears were beginning to appear. "i still love you, and i'm sorry for leaving. i'm sorry for pushing you away. i'm sorry for not coming back. but please don't do this." she thought of all the wreckage that was sure to happen. "i don't know if i'll be able to fight you, but we both know you won't be able to fight me."
"shut up," he roared.
so she did. and, she ran and ran.
