peter was stumbling through the halls. the only thing on his mind was the dread of knowing he would fail that english test. because he was too busy trying to remember anything, he didn't notice the people right in front of him. he slammed into someone's back. their books fell to the ground with a thud, and he flinched. without a second thought, peter reached down to pick them up for the person. "i'm sorry," he blurted.
he saw their mouth moving in response, he saw them taking the books from his hand, but he couldn't hear them. he couldn't breathe either, he realized.

someone touched his arm and he fell into his back. he blinked slowly. "peter... -ou okay?" the girl's voice was fading in and out. her eyes were blue, the exact shade of...
tony's arc reactor.
he pushed her away, dropping his own books and running to the bathroom. he could see the blue light going out. it was all he saw, but he somehow made it to the bathroom without bumping into anything else. he collapsed into a stall, holding his head in his hands.
"he did this for you, peter. i know he did. don't let that go to waste." he remembered pepper's words. she had meant it as something positive, but he hadn't taken it that way. he knew tony had done it for him. of course he did. but if he hadn't, then tony would still be alive. a lot of other people wouldn't, but maybe that was worth it. maybe thanos had the right idea.

he punched the stall wall. it didn't matter. he couldn't think about this. he was fine now. he was fine. thanos was gone.
but tony was gone, too.
he texted aunt may, telling her to come pick him up because he didn't feel good. which wasn't a lie. he really didn't feel good. but he didn't know if his stomach hurt because he was scared or maybe he was going to turn to dust again. he hadn't felt good that time either, like he repeated to tony over and over. tony had tried reassuring him, but he hadn't been alright. and now he wasn't sure if he ever would be again.
