Chapter 49

I wake up the next morning with Josh's arm over me. Everything went great last night! Josh was his charming self and Lizzie and Jack really seemed interested in getting to know him. Lizzie said to me that she thinks he's very sweet and handsome and that she only cares about my happiness. I was so afraid of Hero's reaction but he never appeared in the restaurant. Melany had dinner alone.

I smile and give Josh a kiss on his cheek.

"Hmm, that's a good way to wake up," he smiles.

"I need to go, I'm meeting Jack and Lizzie for breakfast in town."

Josh groans.

"I hate it when you're not on set!"

"I'll be back soon!"

I brush with my lips against his and he opens his mouth. His tongue finds mine and we get lost in a kiss.

I wait outside the diner in town and I spot Jack walking towards me.

"Good morning! Is Lizzie okay?" I ask concerned.

"Yeah, she's just not feeling well enough for breakfast. Probably jetlag," he shrugs.

"Oh, I hope she gets over that soon!"

Jack and I have breakfast and I' dying to ask him about Hero. I know they talked yesterday and I really want to know what Hero is thinking. I don't ask though. Jack is a very loyal friend. That reminds me of lunch later and I'm nervous in an instant.

"Hey Jack," I start. "Lunch isn't about trying to get Hero and I to get back together is it?"

Jack starts laughing.

"No, I admit that sounds like one of Lizzie's plans but no, we just really need to talk to you both."

I don't trust it.

"Are you sure? Talk to us about what?" I ask in a suspicious tone.

Jack grins.

"We do think you guys need to get over yourselves and just talk to each other but there is something else so you can relax."

I know Jack won't tell me more so I let it go. After breakfast we walk around town a bit and then we take a taxi to the estate. I show him around this gorgeous place and I introduce him to my friends. After our tour of the set and trailers, he wants to go check up on Lizzie. We will be meeting here in an hour and then we'll go to the beach for a picknick.

Hero and I are waiting in silence for Lizzie and Jack to arrive. He doesn't look my way and I can feel his anger vibrating from him. I don't know what to say to him. Finally, our friends arrive and we get in the taxi. The ride to the beach is short and I'm grateful for that. I need the fresh air.

Jack and Lizzie tell us about our friends Killian and Stephan with whom they share a house. Apparently Killian managed to find a girlfriend but she's a real bitch. The others don't like her at all and poor Kill is forced to spend all his time with her.

"Brace yourself for your next visit, Charlotte," Lizzie warns. "She really hates you!"

"What? Why? I haven't even met the girl!"

"She knows Kill had a thing for you last year and she's really jealous!" Jack laughs. "It's too funny. We hear them fight about it all the time!"

I make a face which makes them all laugh. Great, now a girl that I haven't even met hates me!

"She does realize that I never dated him?" I ask with a sour face.

"Yeah but it doesn't help that you ran off with Hero Fiennes-Tiffin." Lizzie can't hold her laugh any longer and she rolls all over the sand laughing.

I choose to ignore all of them and start unpacking our picknick.

"Maybe we can open the champagne first?" Jack asks.

"Great idea! Are we celebrating a wedding announcement?" Hero teases.

"Just give us the damn champagne and shut up," Jack answers.

I grin and pass around some glasses. Hero fills them up.

"Okay, before we take a sip Lizzie and I need to tell you something," Jack says. He looks at Lizzie.

"I'm pregnant," Lizzie says. First there is silence and we just stare at her. Then Hero and I both scream and hug both of them.

"Oh my god! Are you serious?!" I squeal.

"Yes!" Lizzie says with a radiant face. She looks so happy!

"That's why we had to postpone our trip," Jack adds. "We just found out and Lizzie was feeling awful."

"Oh gosh, that explains everything! That's why you weren't feeling well this morning!" I bounce up and down from excitement.

"There is more," Lizzie says with a mysterious face.

"You're getting married!" Hero screams.

"Eh, no. Well, probably eventually if Jack ever asks me," Lizzie says. "But we are expecting twins and we want the two of you to be godparents."

Hero and I both stare at them in disbelief.

"You're getting twins?" I ask. "That's great!" I ignore the godparent thing. I mean, I'd love to be a godparent but not with Hero.

"Yeah, we think so too," Jack says smiling.

"And you're sure you want us to be godparents?" Hero asks.

"Yes! We know you're not talking to each other and everything but we're really hoping that you'll both say yes. We think you're the perfect godparents to our babies."

There's silence after Jack's words. I'm so so honored but how will Hero and I ever do this? Of course, we will only see each other on their birthday and maybe for Christmas. I don't dare to look at Hero so I'm not sure what he's thinking about all this. I thought I'd be able to avoid Hero after filming was over but now fate has connected our lives once more. Will I accept?
