The next day, it was school. The bus was crowded as usual but today Luke sat beside me. He lived a few houses away from me and we always sat beside each other on the bus. But today, it felt weird sitting next to him. Yesterday when he grabbed my wrist he held so tight onto it I have a bruise around it. I hid it under my sleeve, didn't want him to see it because I knew he would worry and that it would take a while for him to forgive himself even though he wasn't really under his own control when he did it.
"You okay?" Luke asked, facing me. I stared out the window trying to look alright.
"I'm great." I said, turning to him with a smile.
He put his hand down so it touched my leg a little. I don't know why I frowned at it. I just turned to face the window again.
"When does your first class start?" he asked.
I thought about it first not really sure when, then I turned to face his blue eyes staring at me.
"Uhm, I think it already started." I shrugged. He just chuckled. I have to say, things was a bit tense and I really didn't like it. Because Luke and I had been friends for a long time and he was actually a really good friend of mine. I didn't want yesterday to ruin this.
"You were very protective yesterday." I said, breaking the awkward silence. He smirked, biting his lip ring.
"Yeah... I didn't really want you to get in to any trouble."
This was the sweet thing about Luke, he was so genuine and took care of me like I was his sister or something and it just made me feel so real with him. He was the best and I never want to lose him. He put an arm around my shoulders and pulled me in. I rested my head on his chest and closed my eyes. Breathing his smell of light perfume and fabric. He placed his cheek against the top of my head and we just sat there listening to music through his earphones. Ashton didn't show up on the bus so I guess he'd taken his mums car to school.
We got of the bus and walked together to school. Inside of school Luke took off to another hallway since he is older than me, he has different classes than me in different parts of the school, obviously. I joined my friend Sarah who was standing by her locker using her phone.
"Hello." I said, standing next to her trying to see what she was doing on her phone. "Who's that?" I asked, seeing the name 'Ashley' as the caller ID. She rapidly put her phone back in her pocket. "No one." she said.
"Okay... But I saw his name." I said, raising an eyebrow.
"Just some guy." she replied, tuck a blonde strand of hair behind her ear as she took her books from the locker. She locked it and we started walking to class.
"You like him or -is he just-"
"Some guy, yes." she said. I sat down next to her in the back of the classroom leaning in.
"Im gonna figure out who he is anyway, so you could just tell me right now. Is he in our school?"
She just shook her head, smiling down at her books.
"Whatever."

"Mum!" I shouted from the kitchen, sitting by the table leaning on my elbows. Looking down at my homework, not understanding anything of what I just read.
My mum came rushing in from the livningroom, her brown hair tied up in a knot, grey highlights showing that she was working harder than she actually should be. I think my mum was stressed out about my dad. They didn't really have such a good relationship anymore, they often fought with each other, yelling over small things that wasn't important.
