Chapter 14:
"That swamp is..... I don't know, there's something weird about it," I said to Sokka as he sharpened his blade with a rock. I watched the passing terrain with wide eyes, the spiritual energy calling out to me in a way it didn't usually.
Not since I met Astara.
"She's right," Aang said and I noticed he was watching the ground like me, "it's like calling out to me, maybe there's an earthbender or something that can teach me."
"Just because you feel some sort of connection doesn't mean that there's a teacher," Sokka sassed, trying to reason with the air monk, "I say we stay up here."
"But Bumi said that I would know when I found my teacher, so we have to try!"
"Sokka's right," Katara said, "also, there is no place for Appa to land."
Aang sighed, and I understood his frustration. Katara had already found her master and Sokka didn't even need one.
I guess in a way I understood Aang's need for completeness. Leaving the Kyoshi warriors had left me with a loneliness that I never experienced, since I had trained with them my whole life. Though I shook my head, knowing that was nothing compared to what Aang was going through right now.
"Okay," the boy called dejectedly, "since you don't want to. Yip-yip!"
I waited for the flying bison to rise higher into the sky, but instead he dipped down. MY eyes widened as I realized Appa was trying to land.
"Why is he doing this?" I yelled, as the bison flew faster towards the trees.

I had absolutely no idea where I was. I knew we shouldn't have come here. I was getting a really bad feeling from this place. I could barely see anything in front of me, just trees and tree roots.
The other's and I had gotten separated from each other about an hour ago. Our fight with the moving vines had done.... something, because I had no idea where everyone else was. It was clear this swamp was more than just a swamp, it was also alive in some weird way.
"Aang! Sokka! Katara?" I called for what seemed like the thousandth time this hour.
"GOD, EVEN ZUKO OR SOME SHIT!" I yelled, growing desperate at my lack of success. Right now the firebender's ship and a cup of Iroh's tea seemed not so bad.
I looked up, trying to find out where I was based on the stars but I couldn't even see. Tons of leaves were in my way.
My boots were soaked with swamp water and I felt myself shiver. I kept walking, hoping to find something in the thick wilderness.
Using Kyoshi's fans, I cut branches and vines that were in my way.
After what felt like an hour, I decided to take a break. My arms and legs burned from walking and cutting and trying to get through the swamp. I saw a giant root and I climbed up it.
I sat down and sighed. I realized I wasn't going anywhere for a while.
It wasn't until I heard whispers and an odd feeling that I knew I wasn't alone. I didn't want to stick around so I jumped off the root and went to cut the vines and branches with the fans.
Instead of breaking like they were, they got stronger and more grew. I felt a feeling of dread as I realised there was no way I was gonna get out and that I was at the mercy of whatever was keeping me here.
