Everyone was studying and getting ready for the invasion later today. Aang was especially ready to fight Ozai.
"So what's your plan? Gonna get your glow on and hit the firelord with some avatar action?" Toph asked Aang.
"I can't, my seventh chakra was locked when Azula shot me with lightning." Aang said, "That's why Amara is gonna help me fight him."
"Wait, Amara, will what now?" I asked them.
"Well we need an avatar state and sense I can't be in the avatar state, you're our best bet." Aang shrugged.
"Aang this is your battle, not mine, besides I've been having issues with my spiritual power." I stated.
"Well you could say that he has committed crimes against the spirit world. That will enable you to bring him to "justice" besides, Aang won't kill him, so it should be you." Sokka said, looking up from his maps.
"Kill? Who said anything about killing?" Aang asked.
"Isn't Roku not killing what got us into this mess?" I said, "I think you gotta take him out. And Sokka, I will literally get the living shit beat out of me by Kyoshi if I use my spiritual position as an excuse to kill someone, even a bloodthirsty firelord."
"Well Kyoshi killed Chin the conqueror so I don't see the issue, plus if Aang can't defeat him you are our only option. Besides, at your prime you're stronger than the avatar! We have to use this to our advantage!" Sokka shot back.
"The only reason I become that powerful is when I'm dealing with a spirit or a mortal trying to ruin the spirit world! This is a mortal world issue that doesn't have anything to do with the spirit world. I cannot be the one to fight Ozai and kill him!" I argued.
"Amara! Are you trying to get us all killed!?!?! You have to be the one to fight him!" Sokka said, standing up. Somehow he was forcibly shot back, not by any wind or element, but my something not seen. That told me that Kyoshi was ready to talk once again.
"That's Kyoshi's way of telling you to back off. Speaking of, I have to go talk to her so I'll be meditating if anyone needs me." I said and turned to find somewhere to meditate.
I walked a few meters away until I found a flat topped boulder overlooking the sea. I climbed on top of it and sat in a crossed legged position with my back straight. The calming island breeze was helpful, even if this place didn't have much of a connection to the spirit world.
A cold chill fell over me as I closed my eyes, the spirit world consuming me.
"Amara," I heard the familiar voice of my mentor call to me. I looked up, noticing her standing in front of me. The avatar watched me with a steely stare.
"Avatar Kyoshi," I said, suddenly aware of how long it had been since we had really talked, "I- ummm,"
"Say what you want." She commanded, her stare never leaving mine.
"So...uh I heard you had a girlfriend." I said, trying to be as polite as possible, "Roku told me."
She raised a painted eyebrow at me, her expression staying neutral but a twinkle of humor hit her green eyes.
"Yes, yes I did have a lover, as so many Avatars before me did." She said.
"So like....what was her naaaame? Was she pretty? Oh-what nation did she-"
"Amara." Kyoshi interrupted me, "You are about to go into a battle and yet you ask me about my past relationships."
A wave of embarrassment hit me. She was right, I just didn't want to talk about actual battle at the moment.
